I would like to know what kind of document is required if I'm renting a place to qualify for distance within 1km from school? I understand that the new rule says we have to stay in the rented place for at least 30 months from P1 registration but does that mean our tenancy agreement must also be signed for 30 months? For rental, no documents, the address need to be reflected on your IC. (i.e go police station to update your address on IC). During the 30 mths, if you change your address on IC again, that will reflect the break in 30 mths rule.

For yet to TOP residence, you need to provide your purchase agreement.

If we rent a place within 1km to the desired school and we do stay in the same rented place for the entire 30 months, can we move to another place which is not within 1km of the school after the expiry of the 30 months?

After 30 months, you can move to any place you wish to. No need to remain within that distance although MOE advises you to continue living near the school for the good of the child.

If I buy a place now which is within 1km of the school, and will get keys in early July, do I have to quickly reflect new address on NRIC (and when can I do this) or can just show S&P agreement?

Just show the S&P agreement with a clear indication of the TOP date and your ownership.

But if due to unforeseen circumstances, what is the process for seeking permission from MOE/School for moving to another place? What if the new place is also within 1km of the school? Some landlords do not want to sign for such a long contract period...

Hi, hope you can help advise on this. My flat is within 1 to 2 km of the school we are applying to. My tenants only shifts out in dec. So i can only move back in dec2016.

1) does the 30mths start counting from dec2016
2) do i need to change my nric add to my flat address
3) what do i need to show that we are shifting back in dec 2016?
