Hi. Does anyone know if GMPS and GMSS alumni are the same? If a parent was from GMSS, can the kid be registered under Phase 2A2?

Unfortunately you cannot consider as GMSP alumni even if you are ex student or alumni of GMSS. My wife and I have checked tat with the school last year.
Good news is, from the balloting history, GMSP usually have vacancies for Singaporean (assuming you are) at p2c even more than 2km. -
I stay around Mountbatten area and within 1km of Kong Hwa School.
My 1st choice would have been Kong Hwa but I worry about the stress level there.
Heard the principal quite academic driven.
Anyone has kids there or heard some other things?
My other choice would be Tanjong Katong Primary but I think it is temporarily moving to Bedok for 2 years… which is quite far.
Other choices include Canossa Convent and Geylang Methodist Primary, Canossa Convent would be bit further away compared to Geylang Methodist…
I think Canossa Convent should be no problem to get in. As for Geylang Methodist, I’m not too sure. -
My kids are in Gmps and happy so far. If you are within 2km and SC, there should be no prob getting in.

Hi mama123, I’m registering my son to gmsp in this year p1 registration. Can I ask your opinion and views about the school culture, teaching staff and student demographic? Also when will the upgrading construction be completed? Thanks for your advice!

My child was in P1 in TKPS. They are less academically driven and pace is much slower. More holistic environment, they have more interesting CCAs. Student demographic... more Indians and non chinese.
We transfered him in P2 to GMPS. Teachers were great and they are more academically driven than TKPS. Christian based culture and majority are chinese. CCA choices are not as diversed... pretty standard type. My younger one is in P1 now. Comparing their English standard... definitely GMPS is more challenging.
Their upgrading is targeted to complete by end of the year. I am hoping that they can convert to single session next year. -
Hi mama123, thank you so much for the prompt response. I’ve also been hearing consistent positive feedback about gmps. Hoping for single session too as this will free out time for the kids in afternoon to relax a bit. Hehe

Hmm… should I put in kong hwa 1st and use GMPS as backup? Or should I directly put GMPS… Kong hwa us within walkable distance buy I dun have direct transport to GMPS. Lots of factors to consider sigh…
