Started out working in a hot desking environment. So learned really fast to tune out all others. For big projects/tenders where I will need more space, I will usually book a meeting room. These projects are not OMOs anyway so the meeting room is necessary for brainstorming and discussions with the various departments involved. I eventually ended up with a rather spacious cubicle but I was hardly around to use since I was usually out for meetings or travelling.

There was this purchasing colleague who has a very loud voice. When she talked on the phone, the open space office (roughly the size of 2 badminton courts combined) can hear her voice.

Our dept is located outside the open space office, no door type. My desk is at the other end of the room, also could hear her voice, though considerably muted down.

I find people who treat office like a noisy stock market plain rude and inconsiderate.

Anyway, an office is a place of work, not for telephone chit chat.

quite a few of my colleagues use earphones - whether they are actually listening to music, I don't know. But it seems to be acceptable in my office. I might try it one day.

dd2 asked for headphones recently. She said it's to block out dd1's 大嗓门 :rotflmao:

I am normally able to 'shut' my ears amidst noise and work effectively but when it involves alot of detailed computations and checking, i normally schedule that for early in the morning when i am more alert and with my earphones on. My colleagues know that wearing my earphones = DND :rotflmao:

Sometimes wearing earphones is gd when ppl ard me are gossiping abt other colleagues. Hear no evil! 🤷

ME time now; after completion of morning duty.

Can spend some time with Gor Gor, an old robo whose days may be limited though trying to remain alert whenever he hears noises.

Watching korean tv drama online, glancing at my sleeping hamsters, surfing KSP forum.
                What else do I expect?
