I too, had my share of problems with maids. Recently i have sent my maid away about 3 weeks ago, and engaged a really gd PT maid. i thought things were going well, but unfortunately i was so busy that i hardly have time for my kids. When i reach home, i have to be busy with housework, and in order to quickly finish my stuff, I had to put them in front of the TV so i can do my things undisturbed. I feel so lousy! As my hubby is usually busy and also tired when he's back, I dont get much support.. on weekends too because i gotta wake up early and prepare breakfast & lunch for everyone. Sigh... isn't it a dilemma?

I agree and can fully understand what you mean. That is why, I also have a part time cleaner. Just got a robot cleaner for the floors. I get the kids to do things for each other (like playing, going to the playground, etc). I also get them to help out in chores like mopping and washing dishes. I spend abt 30mins in the kitchen for cooking everyday. The rest of prep work, cleaning, laundry etc I try to do when we are reading together, or when they are asleep.

Tired on the body but blissful for the mind. Nothing is perfect but we can always try to strike the right balance! Some tv days should be totally acceptable!

At least now you do not have to worry about the maids issues.

It all depends on luck. Our ah-mah had one for 6 years, speaks mandarin, a gem! My uncle's maid is also very devoted to him. The slightest cough and she will go report to his children (pneumonia phobia).

I would counsel her. If hers is in some outlying city and likely need to stop over a main airport, remind her there are many ways to go home - you can find something that keeps her in say manila/jkt airport for 24 hours (and you dun bao the overnight accommodation).

Keep you happy, you make sure she is happy on way home.
