MOE said government-aided schools are given more flexibility in their transition timeline as they have to take into account stakeholders’ concerns.
It also said that schools will have their enrolment gradually reduced to ensure that all levels can operate at one session. Additionally, the ministry is working to ensure that there is a full suite of facilities that can cater to the whole student cohort in the respective schools. -

I have ds and dd both in HIPS and both kids like their teachers and classmates. Workload for P1 is not heavy but as they progress through the higher primary (especially P3 onwards), it will get tougher. Both ds and dd have classmates who stayed in Yio Chu Kang travelling all the way to study in HIPS and also classmates who transferred from another school to HIPS. For ds, he adore his Maths teacher as the teacher is very caring and well liked by his students. As for dd, the teachers are included in the class groupchats with the children and what I know is that the teachers will encourage and remind them from time to time and this motivates the students too. I can only say that if the students like their class, they will enjoy school better. Hope this helps.I think it will still be double session these 2-3years since the school is undergoing upgrading.
Can anyone share more about the school? Like homework load, quality of teachers, whether they set high standards for tests even for p1?
Really would like to hear from parents whose children are/were staying here now as the school does not have open house.
Thank you. -

Hi 'mommy2ma'
Perhaps you can enlighten me as i am deciding on P1 primary schools for next yr, and HIPS is 1 of them.
I have heard that 1 class form teacher will take on multiply of subjects hence once the teacher is on leave, there are no teaching per said with relief teacher.
Is this true?
Visited the school afew weeks back on verification of paperwork, the admin staff seems clueless.
Sent me email saying its all cleared, then called 2 days later and said still checking???? so confusing... hope their education system is better organized and not as reflected as the admin dept.
Now having 2nd thoughts, on top of the temp shifting and PM session, Not very promising.
Its suppose to be a good SAP school in our area.
So stressed out and worried! -
my friend whose kid is in side said to me dun waste time on this school… standard has dropped
but i guess the reason why i likely not choose this school is because they are moving to temp location…
that area is known to have traffic jam so sending our boy to school ourselve is out and if take school bus he will need to wake up very early … go home also will be last so … i guess i will just go normal school near my place -

From my understanding, not all teachers teach more than 1 subjects. The relief teacher comes in only when the teachers need to go for training/on course/not available. I think it really depend on the relief teacher as some will teach while some will just allocate homework. Not every student will get all the good teachers for all subjects so there will be a mix at any levels.
If not for the temporary shift, the school is indeed one of the better sought schools in Hougang given it's high PSLE T-score last year. The school is one of the last 20 schools having dual sessions so I believe the upgrading hopes to allow for a single session once it's completed.
Try to keep your options open. You can also consider Nan Chiau Primary and Xin Min Primary etc.
All the best! -
