        Noob question:

I live less than 100m from Nanyang. I am however an ACPS alum and an OBA member. I am having sleepless nights over the convenience of Nanyang vs nostalgia of alma mater. Because of the way the admission phases go, if my son gets into ACPS in 2A, do i have to give up the place to try for Nanyang in 2B/2C?

Most importantly ACS has affiliation to Sec school…your stress level won’t be so high come P6’s time.

Or get your boy’s opinion n visit both schools to have a feel. I did that for my boy n it was just bad luck ( or fated!??) we encounter a Tr’s meltdown to a boy playing ball near canteen (from start to end of our entire recce in NYPS he was screaming lol). Becos of that n ACS is bigger in size, my boy didn’t consider NYPS though I explained it is nearer to us.

Think on the bright side, u sending him to either sch will be a great choice and less than 100m is a dream school come true for all parents n kids for 6 years ! And if u plan for more kids(or younger sis for him), then nyps easier for logistics.

Good luck on your decision !

Thanks, will probably check out both places.

I only have boys, so I don't need to consider a coed school. 😢 As you said, both schools are not in any way bad choices. Having a school where I can literally throw a stone and hit from my place is great for a lot of reasons, including less commute, independence early on, monitoring their movements!

Just wish the admission phases were in my favour, i.e. If I fail to get into nanyang, I still have a fall back option of my alma mater!

Unfortunately you can't fall back, so you really have to weigh your chances to get in NYPS in Phase 2B. If for some reason you can't secure a place there, you have to be prepared to go for a backup school.

Based on your description, ACSP is not that far away anyway. And it will truly give you a peace of mind when your sons are in P6 as the stress level in ACSP would be much lower compared to NYPS.

Oh yes, and plus the high possibility of both your 2 boys ending up in the same sec school and the bonding/memories !

My boys love it when they take the bus or train home together (armed w hp for me to call them). Lots of independent ACSP boys gg home on their own, some starting from P4 onwards. Quite a few drop off at Nyps area ( bukit Timah red). Younger ones usu take sch bus.

Can any parent whose children got in through balloting help? I want to know if ACSP conducts an open or closed ballot ( i.e they pick out the ballot papers in front of parents/public or just announce to parents who are successful after they pick the names behind doors?). Thanks in advance.

I also want to know. I would be shocked if schools are allowed to have closed ballot. Where's the transparency then?

Hello!! My 1st time posting here.

My son is going to P1 next year and I am staying at Toa Payoh.
I not sure should put my son in the student care and my husband to drive him to and from the school or let him take Sch bus and my MIL look after for me.
Any suggestion? Anyone son going to ACS Pri and is also staying around Toa Payoh?
How much is the Sch fee and Sch bus now?
I called MCYS, the person told me the student care fee now is $321. Not sure next yr will increase or not.
