Hi all, i’m new here. I have a boy going p1 next year.
I’m staying in Yishun. The nearest school to my place is chongfu.
But i heard it’s very difficult to get in. In a dilemma. -
Hi. I am staying at Pasir Ris. I have 3 kids (2010, 2012, 2014). I was from Kong Hwa Pri School. Wanted to send my kids there but very concern about the distance and the traffic jam in the morning. I m a SAHM with no helper and able to drive my kids. Just worried if getting my kids to wake up early to travel to school brings more harm to them… Also heard that Kong Hwa could be stressful cos they gave a lot of homework… Then, does that deprive them from having a happy childhood by cramming them with tons of work?? Another point to consider, if all 3 goes to school at the same time (P1, P3, P5), their after school hours may be different… By then, fetching them might be a chore… Any advices, please?
I also looked at Neighbouring school and seems like those popular school like Pasir Ris Pri school, White Sands - need balloting within 1 km which means I hv no chance at all… Haven’t check others yet… 3 schools Meriden, park view, Elias park are within 1km… Any ppl have thoughts about these schools??
I m really in dilemma now… Any advices are welcome… -
I reside in Toa Payoh. 1km to CHIJ Toa Payoh Pri & Marymount Convent. Which is a better option? CHIJ is affiliated whereas Marymount is not. CHIJ is walking distance from my hse but to Marymount, my dau has to hop on to public transport which is prolly 2 bus stops away. As for education wise, which will a better option? Please share your views! Thanks in advance

If you are ok with schools like Ahmad Ibrahim and Xishan Pri, then you don't really have a dilemma. Both schools have enough seats for P2Cs. Therefore, you can always go for Chongfu and fall back to either one should you fail the ballot at Chongfu.Hi all, i'm new here. I have a boy going p1 next year.

Besides, you don't really have much option in Yishun. All other popular neighbourhood schools in Yishun also require balloting. -

CHIJ is the better option due to affiliation. If you are prepared to stick to the IJ family, you will have affiliation to JC as well. Unfortunately, it requires balloting in P2C (whereas Marymount does not). Given that you live within 1km to both, the logical option should be to apply to CHIJ TP in P2C, and apply to Marymount Convent at P2Cs (which typically has lots of vacancies) if you miss the ballot.
