May I know what’s a decent gpa for year 1?is anything above 3.6 considered above average? With increased n tougher loads in term 3 n 4, am worried it will drop further…
-
Hey 3.6 is a pretty decent Gpa at least fr my child's standard. :))) from wat i knw 3.6-4.0 is the above average Gpa.
If ur child can maintain that throughout the years, that means he is really really very smart & disciplined.
I understand when a boy gets abt 2.6, their parents will need to see the Deputy principal.
I bet ur child is doing really well.
It is true wif the cca competition & more sch wrk, it can only gets tougher. But not too worry 3.6 is a very reputable Gpa & its vey rare to see a boy coming off way lower than wat they usually gets. -

In one of sec 1 classes this year, a parent shared that GPA 3.6 is the class average for myct. So any score above 3.6 is definitely above average!Hey 3.6 is a pretty decent Gpa at least fr my child's standard. :))) from wat i knw 3.6-4.0 is the above average Gpa.

What about Year 2, what is the mean GPA?
-
Intuitively speaking, mean GPA for Year 2 should be around 3.4 (as in average middle range for CTs). Of course each batch has different ranges but the 3.3-3.5 band is quite common even though it’s not reflected as such, report states GPA instead only by 3.2 or 3.6

For Year 1 and Year 2, MYCT 30%, EOY 40% and CAs 30%.
How does Year 3 and Year 4 work? Because of the Gap Sem in Year 4, all the assessments are done in Year 3? Are there exams in Year 4 besides the O Levels exams for MT? -

In Year 3 onwards, the classes will be grouped according to subject combination. Within a subject combination, will the classes be further differentiated based on GPA or GEP? -

No one talks about GEP or non-GEP from year-3 onwards. More likely, RA or non-RA..

In year 3, the classes are divided into RA and non-RA. For non-RA classes, so far I didn't see any difference in GPA. It ranges from low to high GPA. There is a rumor that there is one class that has extremely high GPA (like above 3.9). Don't know whether true or not.
Among non-RA, students taking double humanities are separated from students taking double/triple science. However, students with 8, 9 and 10 subjects are mixed so you can find students with double science and triple science in one class. Those taking 10 subjects are considered like taking 9 subjects because the 10th subject is taken outside curriculum time. Those taking 8 subjects can either sit in the class for the subject they don't take e.g. Biology (just listen for fun
) or go to the project room for own study.
Year 3 classes will continue to Year 4 because Year 4 is only half year.
Overall GPA for year 3 and 4 is combined.
Year 3 MYCT: 10%
Year 3 EOY: 25%
Year 4 FE: 35%
CAs in year 3 and 4: 30%
Edit: Apparently the exams at end of Term 2 Year 4 is called FE (Final Examination) instead of MYCT. I just checked the school notice. My apologies.
