My wife's dream job is also to become an overseas study mama. It's probably not that difficult to land that job, we could always pack the kid to Universiti Malaya (or one of the lesser known ones)

In order to have best returns, I intend to tell my children to take bank loan. On graduating work out the EMI @ bank rate-1 % for the next 4 years. I pay up bank loan. Ask DD/DS to pay me the EMI. And the children learn to be money responsible. I get round 4% returns, not bad. Except the risks are high :evil:

If your children counter propose you to borrow your CPF money then how? It is cheaper for them. Only 2.5%.

As in medical and law courses or overseas uni? Overseas uni is out of our budget and I don't think my dd is likely to go for law and medicine courses but anyway, students only need to start repayment of loan after graduation and can defer payment if unemployed. (Cpf loan).
So I think it shouldn't restrict the choice of courses. Besides, remuneration should commensurate with the occupation? :xedfingers:

In any case, we have bought endowment policies for dd when she was born. She is not aware of them and we plan to give it to her as gifts on her wedding/when she start a family. If she is really struggling financially, we will use the funds to help her instead. But if not, we would do just as planned and let her learn to manage her finance first. It's just our personal preference.

Loans may have high uncertainties, but for most people, including myself, are unavoidable. I'm sure most of us are tied to the yoke by our housing loan, probably to our death beds We just hope that our children can avoid our same fate.
