We were away for 9 days..ngl2010:
If have common tests in week 1, it looks like we can't go anywhere in June holiday in Year 5. Year 6 needless to say.
The hols are 4 weeks, so you can still plan on a short break. My daughter had a camp the first week as well as several other CCA/church/social events, and we took a 4-day weekend break. She still had more than 2 weeks (interspersed with the various events) for studying. If they stay on top their work during term time and concentrate hard while revising, they shouldn't need 4 whole weeks. And the break was a good \"carrot\".
Next year, she is definitely planning on going to church camp, Yr6 or no Yr6.
When we were in SG, DS had CCA practices and outings with CT, OG & CCA friends. DS definitely didn't want to study 4 whole weeks.
Not sure if there will be remedial / supplementary lessons during June holidays in Yr-6 though. -
My girl wants to go German for a short trip. This is the reason for studying German for 4 years. I am thinking that we can bring her end of this year or next year. She might get the chance to study there.

No remedial/supplementary lessons during June holidays as far as I recall. And no worries about taking a break in June. Consistent work is more important.

Agree with jtoh about consistency in work. It also focuses their minds nicely if they take some time off and have a little less time at the end. Also, I recall that the teachers said (and I also have observed) that RI and most schools concentrate the \"official\" stuff within the first week of the June hols. So as long as you avoid that week, the other things are \"missable\". Our church camp is always during the 2nd or 3rd week for that reason!iFirefly:

Thot most JC2 teachers will want to use part of the June holidays to finish the syllabus earlier so that they'll have more time for revision before A Levels. That's what I heard teachers of other JCs are doing..

Does sports CCA in year 5 and 6 consume more time than sports CCA in year 1-4? Or same?
