Hi parents, my P6 son is aiming to go HCI. He loves science. Can I know, in Sec 3, are they allowed to choose any subject combination or they must meet certain requirements before being allowed to choose certain " popular" subject combinations?

Also, is the promotional criteria very tough to achieve?

At s3, all the boys have to do Phy and Chem. Bio is optional for non special programme (SMTP) boys. If i remember correctly, for this year's sec3, they had to have at least MSG2.5 for sec 2 Science to be able to offer bio as the third sci subject.


The \"default\" Sec 3 subject combination for IP students (excluding the Humanites Prog students, Sci/math talent students, and Language elective students and Structured IP students) are:

1. English language
2. HCL
3. Integrated Maths
4. Chem
5. Physics
6. Integrated Humanites Elective (Geog/Hist/ Lit - choose 1)
7. Integrated Humanities Core (equivalent of Social studies in O levels)
8. Project work component.
9. Bio (optional)

It may change from batch to batch. Most of the boys do get promoted, so I don't think it is hard to achieve as long as one if fairly diligent and pays attention in class.

Lexis I just heard from ds that there are \"Block Tests\" immediately after June holiday for Sec 4. I wonder if any sec 4 parents are able to verify. If this is so, there goes the June holiday?!

also.. i think my ds won't be free or inclined to travel in J1/2 June holidays.. and army after that.. so Year 4 is kinda my last chance to travel with him in June before he becomes an adult and decides to travel without me.

Hi, may I ask some trivial questions about hci which are important to us. My DS attended the DSA tests and interview last Saturday.

1)Are there any stalls in the canteen selling vegetarian food food? Our family are vegetarians.
2) What are the school hours? Is there any plan /announcement that the school will start the class later e.g 8am? Our home is about 1hour bus ride from hci.
