Shifting house gives you a chance of balloting (at any phase, should balloting happens). To increase the chance, you need to get into the earlier phases. Apart from PV, you can volunteer in the grassroots (2 years cut off, so too late for 2018), be a teacher in the school or be appointed to the school's advisory board.
assuming there is no prior connection to the school as in former student, it is not possible to be under school's advisory board ie 2A1?

IMHO the School Advisory Committee is like one of those shady grassroot organisations in your constituency. You know they are there, there are a number of members in them but you have no idea who/what they are :rotflmao:

The board is typically made up of grassroot leaders, businessmen, philanthropist, etc. i.e. \"prominent\" members of the public which may or may not be former students.

school advisory board ie 2A1 is not for those who are not former students of the intended school. if canโ€™t get into phase 2B, itโ€™s only 2C and moving nearer the school for a chance to ballot.

            Phase 2A1 has 2 eligible criteria https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases:

Part (a) covers the alumni association member.
Part (b) reads: For a child whose parent is a member of the School Advisory / Management Committee.

The parent don't have to be a former student of the school as its not part of the condition.

Besides being a permanent subject Teacher inside the school (but not ex student) : I wonder if a relief Tr who is very, very active inside the school, always chairing this or that committee, highly invisible in front of the Principal -
can be considered to come under the school's advisory board.

              Eg
Since Nanyang primary is a much coveted school, curious to find out how some people (not ex student of NYPS) can come under Phase 2A1, under the so-called school's advisory board category.

(some friends with kids due for P1 registration in a few years' time, are keen to know)

Not all committees are the same.

The School Advisory Committee is a formal committee and not quite the same as those from the D&D committee, open house committee type. Members of the SAC have contributed time and probably money to help steer the school in its vision and direction. Unless your friends are of some reasonable standing in society, the chances of them getting appointed to the SAC is very, very remote.

Reporting in for P1 registration come 2018!!! I've got a dragon girl and a horse girl. Super stressed up already. Thanks to this forum, at least we have more info and can make better-informed decisions. *stress to the max* ๐Ÿ˜ž

Would like to know is it really too late to apply under Grassroots? How is this process done? Maybe I can still do so for my horse girl...

                  Thank you!

I always had this impression phase 2A1 is for former students who have joined the alumni.
a neighbour who is an old boy of Nan Hua joined alumni to register his son there.

You are not wrong. Part (a) is for former students who have joined the alumni.

However, my statement \"The parent don't have to be a former student of the school as its not part of the condition.\" is meant for part (b). The School Advisory / Management Committee doesn't have to be a former student.
