Hello all,

I'm looking for Jazz (ATOD) lessons for my DD. She is currently taking Ballet (RAD) & Jazz (CSTD). But Jazz (ATOD) & Jazz (CSTD) don't have similar modules. She is more interested in ATOD module. -
Results for RAD Mar/Apr exams are out.

Should I be upset that my girl did not get a distinction for RAD at the Primary level? Does that mean that she’s not cut out for ballet? And that we should give up sooner than later?
The levels will only get harder all the way, so unlikely she will get better over time right? -

I guess it depends on your purpose of learning ballet as well? For us, we learn for interest sake, so the results do not matter that much to us, and we don't take exams every year too. Also, with age comes maturity to understand the moves better, hence my take is that it is not entirely impossible to improve the results over the years too. Of course, there are always those few who have natural talent in it and will always perform better in exams. Another thing you could also do is to ask the teacher to analyse the results for you to see which are the weaker components ( technical aspects or expressions etc) and work more on these areas next year to improve the results. I know of a school who has prescribed stretching exercises to do everyday at home to 'stretch' the muscles but not at my cc but it's fine with us as we are not going after the ballet teacher or performer route. Hope that helps.Should I be upset that my girl did not get a distinction for RAD at the Primary level? Does that mean that she's not cut out for ballet? And that we should give up sooner than later?

Thanks FLD for your comments.
I guess learning ballet is primarily for interest and exposure. Just that my \"kiasu\" side is nagging at me...

Hi,
Does anyone have any ballet comments/experience with Young Dancers Academy at Ulu Pandan Cc or Attitude Arts at Bukit Timah Plaza?
Dd is currently in Grade 3 and I am looking to change a ballet school for her as the current school is just too far for us, especially when the RAD exam coaching starts and she has to go for class twice a week. -
hi can I check if there is any cert given for participation in cstd dance competition?
