Any Updates As To When PSLE T-Scores Will Be Scrapped?

BigDevil:
can't really assume that all 4 points - 800 students, would select RII wonder if MOE will announce the number
of students for each total score.
That will sort of help in deciding what school
choices to make.
Eg.
4 points - 800 students
5 points - 950 students
etc...
Then me as a 5 point scorer jolly well not put RI as my first
choice, knowing that most, if not all, of the places would have
gone to those scoring 4 points.
Maybe they can conduct S1 posting like P1 registration.
After first day of registration, all 4 points scorers who registered
at RI have been allocated a place, leaving 10 places to be
balloted by those scoring 5 points. If you don't like your chance,
withdraw and register at another school.
Out of these 4-pointer 800 students, some of them would have accepted DSA offer to other schools like NUS high, or to other IP JC like Hwa Chong or NJC, before sitting for PSLE.
They would have signed 6 years DSA contract with IP schools, before sitting for Psle, and before psle results come out, informing them they are 4-pointer
But, not knowing the exact number of 4-pointer who applied for RI, doesn't matter.
What Moe can do is :
At the end of each day around 8 pm, Moe can broadcast to public -
How many applied for RI, how many managed to get into RI successfully, and how many vacancies are left, for balloting ? And most important of all, give a daily update of the last student who entered RI, with the last AL score
Then, with these latest updated info given to public, P6 students can login the online S1 posting system again, change or reset the sequence of the 6 schools again in their list, since now we all know how many vacancies are left.
The whole Idea : we do not want the computer to blindly allocate a Secondary school for us, should we fail to ballot into 1st choice, or into 2nd choice school.
But to know ok, with such a number of vacancies left in school X, I rather choose a Sec school myself, by allowing me to change the sequence of my 6 choice schools. We don't want to depend on LUCK, to allocate a school for us
Means Secondary school posting admission system, follow similarly to the P1 registration system.
P1 registration go by Phase 1 (sibling), Phase 2A1 (alumni), 2A2 (ex students), etc
Likewise, Sec 1 registration also go by Phase
Phase 1 : handle admission for Top Tier IP schools, plus Top Tier O level schools
Phase 2 : handle admission for Tier 2 IP schools, plus Tier 2 O level schools
Phase 3 : all other schools -
My question is where the student go if ALL (2nd, 3rd, 4th,…) his/her choices school has been fully subscribed?
If I have 4-5 points AL, naturally I will pick all the best/popular schools…
These schools may have been fully subscribed.
I predict this kind of scenario may happen. -
phtthp:
Of course not.
can't really assume that all 4 points - 800 students, would select RI
Of those 800 4-point scorers, a big portion will be girls
and they certainly wouldn't select RI as one of their choices.
What I am saying is that with some knowledge
of the number of competitions you are facing,
you can attempt to gauge your chances, rather than
blindly entering 6 choices with absolutely no idea
how good a chance you have. -

I feel a 10% probability of not getting into dream school despite working very hard is unfair. It will never happen under the old system. So, every year there will be 4,000 disappointed children. How are we going to tell our child to work hard in the future if they are balloted out? One day they will become 10% of the work force. Would the S1 bitter experience still haunt them? So, no need to work too hard as they don't have as good luck as others? Or, is it parents' responsibilities to make sure they bounce back? There are some children that just don't bounce back or will be scarred by it.
Every year there are 4,000 students with 4 A*s? Sure or not? :skeptical:
I think if the end all and be all of education for a primary school child is to get into a particular 'dream' secondary school, then the child has a more serious problem than having to ballot. :siam: -

Makes us miss the old, but very pragmatic t-score, don't we?

Maybe we are all taking the \"it's the journey that counts...\" a little too literally. So getting into the school becomes more important than the question of why we are there......

Probably the same place as somebody with a T-score of 230 who put 1st choice NYGH, 2nd choice RGS, 3rd choice MGS, 4th choice Dunman High IP, 5th choice St Nicks IP and 6th choice SCGS. :evil:My question is where the student go if ALL (2nd, 3rd, 4th,...) his/her choices school has been fully subscribed?

Now that MOE has told you how the system is going to work, why would you want to go and do something stupid like that? :scratchhead: -
Maybe we should think of ways on how to achieve the final objectives of becoming professionals like doctors or super stars at the low possible costs without going through all these layers of old and new systems.
The children and the parents get to choose what they like best. -

Where did I say that dream school only available to children with 4 A*? :?ngl2010:

How to get T-score, 230 ?
Probably the same place as somebody with a T-score of 230 who put 1st choice NYGH, 2nd choice RGS, 3rd choice MGS, 4th choice Dunman High IP, 5th choice St Nicks IP and 6th choice SCGS. :evil:ryka:

On average, per subject : Raw score need to score at least lowest 80 (ie. AL 3)
Then, how to get T-score 261, to enter RGS Secondary ?
On average, per subject : Raw score need to score at least lowest 91, to get into RGS.
(Ie. AL 1)
NYGH, RGS, Dunman High, St Nick IP and even 6th choice SCGS O level require at least minimum 250.
If put above 6 choices down inside the list : with 230, you can't even get into the last 6th choice.
You don't even get close to your #6 last choice.
Computer will just simply allocate your child a Secondary school, based on his or her AL score, see which Secondary school can possibly fit into.
The school the child get posted to, will be outside his 6 choices.
Child will get a shock, got posted by computer to an unwanted school, can cry
