Any parents can share on how we can book a slot for computer lab usage for the child to use to complete the e-learning in school. My son is in pro-teach and i would like him to complete his e-learning on the meet-the-parents day. TIA

I heard the P4 are going to Labrador camp and must pay $60? Is this a regular thing at P4? Seems that this school got more "play" than studies. Minus the many learning journeys, camp and holidays, wonder how much learning is there…

Any parent did comparison with other nearby schools, like spelling list, quality of worksheet, composition etc? Can share? I heard this school is doing very little. Also heard Math hod n principal leaving, VP is new n …

Very worrying....

Think this rumour about principal leaving has been going around even before Palm View started operations.. haha. Generally principals serve in a particular school for at least 6 years. So rotation of principals is a common thing and it is bound to happen sooner or later. Personally, I feel that even if by some unknown reasons.. Mr Chua is replaced by another principal next year (which is not a norm but MOE has the power to do this), what is more important is whether he has put in place clear direction of where the school is going and set the environment where the school culture and values can develop so that the incoming principal and existing team of staff can continue to carry out these plans with minimal disruption. And to me the answer is yes.

As for camps, learning journeys, etc vs worksheets and homework, for someone who advocates holistic education, experiential learning and learning life skills on top of academics, I'm glad that the school conducts such activities that are beyond the normal academic routine. In fact, to me, I find that there should be more camps.. and start earlier at P3 level perhaps.. and better still send them overseas. Going thru' these will give the kids a whole new experience and they will be able to pick up life-skills that they can never get from spelling lists and worksheets. That's why you can see more and more schools sending their kids to camps and overseas trips because there's great value in such activities. And more schools are moving away from giving too many homeworks to kids because most times most kids will come back with full marks for their homeworks which makes it impossible for teachers to gauge the weak areas of the kids.

Just a small correction about VP being new. I think it is important to note that PLVPS got a second VP (so meaning we have 2 VPs now). The 1st VP is not new at all and has been a respected figure in her current and previous attachments as well. The 'new VP' is not a replacement.. instead she in an addition to the leadership team. This I feel is a good thing because the school leaders tier is beefed up with the addition of this 2nd VP. She may be new as a VP.. but if my stalking skills are still good, I recall that she is a very experienced educator.. rising up the ranks and excelling in her various postings.

At the end of the day, different parents have different expectations. But the schol objective has always been consistent.. ie. to provide the best platform for the kids so that they can be a force for good in this world.

Frankly, I doubt if there is a change in principal, the incoming principal and the existing staff will continue to carry out plans made by the previous principal. As with all change in management, any change in principal will almost definitely change the school’s direction, culture and plan.


So, I am hoping the principal stays at least until both my kids complete their P6 in PLVPS, as he was one of the main reasons why I chose PLVPS for my eldest last year and planning to choose PLVPS for my number 2 next year.

And so far, I am very satisfied with the choice coz my girl really enjoys school and could cope without any enrichment classes. Parents are kept informed of what happens in school. There are reading periods to encourage children to read both in english and mother tongue There are activities organised during their recess. Tree top challenge. Interesting classes. I hope I had all these when I was in primary school.
