Thanks. Does is appear in the student's official record anywhere?
No.jtoh:
What is the significance of \"dean's list\"? Is it something official? Does it serve any purpose? Just curious as we didn't have that in my JC days (different JC, though).
It's to recognize the top scoring 5% of the cohort for each subject. It's official in that it's collated by the school and posted up on the notice board for all to see. It's good for bragging rights.

For my daughter's case, yes. The testimonial documented the subjects that she was in Dean's Lists, and for how many semesters.

My girl wants to go German for a short trip. This is the reason for studying German for 4 years. I am thinking that we can bring her end of this year or next year. She might get the chance to study there.
I just heard a hearsay that Germany Universities course fee are free even for foreigners as long as you can study all the subjects in German language. Not sure if it is true. Maybe you can find out / verify further before going there for holiday end of this year or visit a German university when you are there? Since she has such a keen interest I mean. -

DS says those who scored S & U grades need to attend remedial.gardenia64:
May I know which grade the school will provide the remedial lesson for the students ? When will be started for remedial lesson ? Year 5 common test results are out. Thanks.
My daughter said that her GP teacher told her class that they would not need to attend remedial, so I guess they already know who needs to? Or maybe only for GP so far? Not sure what the cut-off grade is for each subject. -

Psst jtoh.. DS says only 7% of the cohort scored A in Chemistry for JC1 MYE..slmkhoo:

Yes, the top 5% scorers for each subject are on the Dean's List. I thot RGS has that too. -

No, RGS doesn't have Dean's List. -

Chem - I hadn't heard about the 7% for A grade. My daughter was told that 50% got S & U, 30% got C, D & E. If my maths works, that means about 13% got B.

Econs - about 50 students got A.
I haven't heard about other subjects. Apparently such scores are very normal for these tests as they are only worth 15% of the total grade for the year. I'm sure they have been especially tough this time round and will be more moderate at the end of the year.
