Hi all, I just manage to see Chongfu has 81/ 83 vacancies for Phase 2C. I stay within 1km - 2km range. OMG. What are the chances?supermeowmee:

Both schools listed are not an option for you. If you are betting on 2C, you will find another other those 2.
Chongfu take up rate after P2B (74%) is not much different from previous year (73% to 81%) and it has never escaped balloting within 1km for P2C for the last 10 years.[/quote]
I have different thought ler... I think not necessarily 0% this year... last year ballot for those stay within 1km and the number of registration was 78 (fight for 63 vacancies)... this year having 81 vacancies and considering this is year of tiger, SC staying within 1-2km should have chance to ballot... just my opinion. SC staying within 2km and do not mind to ballot can monitor the number of registration closely... I think have chance... -

Considering last year 160 fighting for 80 vacancies, I think this year will be tragic as well... think those stay outside 1km should have 0% chance...grimm:

Thanks all for the advice. I just want to check, I am 1km to 2km of Chongfu & Northland. Which one should I even try to apply?
Think Northland is just as bad or worse than Chongfu. So you might have to opt for the less popular schools if Holy Innocent doesn't work for you.
Out of curiosity, wouldn't you want your girl to attend the same school as you? -
I was looking through the vacancies by phases page by MOE and saw that there’s quite alot of vacancies in Jiemin this year as compared to previous years’ stats. What has happened this year that makes Jiemin a less attractive school this year?

CF continued the balloting trend. Any parent called to check how many registrants are from within 1km?

I rest my case... after one last word :rotflmao:
78 applicants (gunning for 63 vacancies) last year do not represent the real number of potential applicants for Chongfu. It merely represents the number of applicants <1km that have the stomach to go through a ballot. Some people, who prefer more certainty, would have gone off to other schools in Yishun (and there are a LOT of applicants in Yishun living within 1km of Chongfu). With 83 vacancies, you would not be expecting the number of applicants to remain constant as last year (78). More people <1km, sensing a chance, would probably join in the queue. Those >1km remains out of the picture. -

Any idea how many of them (among these 123) are SC within 1km? -
I called the CFS. Many of the registered are within 1km. My house is 1.02km away and so was advised by them to look out for other schools within the area. HOWEVER, the school did not reveal on the breakdown of SC/ PRs. Sighs…

The breakdown of SC/PR is mostly irrelevant in this case. It's safe to assume 99.9% will be SC.
I was trying to inject a dose of reality previously but you would have to activate your backup plan now. Do note that even if your younger one gets into Chongfu, it's not safe to assume that the elder one can get a successful transfer immediately. There is going to be a long waiting list. -

Looks equally fierce over at Northland...I wonder if that HIHP mom had made up her mind?supermeowmee:

Most parents are probably hedging their bets that the other Yishun primary schools remain unpopular and if they fail in their ballot at Chongfu/Northland, pick one of the others in P2Cs. Apart from Chongfu and Northland, no other schools in Yishun would require balloting if applications as of yesterday stand.floppy:
