X is only p1 now so you can Ask her to go for tuition for eng and Chin ( double tuition if necessary ) and she will get 4 point in 2021…

That’s why the change is set 6 years later, don’t say moe doesn’t warn you and give you enough time to strategise/prepare to attain the elusive 4 points…so don’t cry in 2021 if you don’t do anything now !

Horror of all horrors, what if after the next GE, there’s a new Minister of Education who has other idea and decides to suspend the PSLE reforms before X takes her PSLE?

Ya lor. MOE already tell you that if must send for tuition, send for tuition to attain the standards required for 4 points. Don't waste time and money sending for tuition to get all the extra points above 90 that don't count.

You think you shooting arrow ah, so accurate? Can make sure all the 4 subjects score exactly 90 and not one point less?

You think these are the ideas of the Minister?

But.. has it ever occurred to you that, had you been under the new (AL grading) system, your weakness in Chinese may cost you your opportunity to study in SAP school? As for me, as much as I resented my father for pressuring me so much, I was glad that I'd managed to squeeze into one, since its program had truly benefited me tremendously. 😄

Never did bother about whether SAP school or not back then.

Who say I weak at Chinese? Just because I get zero for Chinese once in a while does not mean I cannot get A1 for CL1 or read 金庸 novels, ok? :rotflmao:

I never got zero for Chinese because my mom was a hardass about it. Today I can barely read better than my 5-year old and I can't write to save my life. When I think of all those wasted hours....

X feel very sad, disappointed, cried, because she studied so hard from P1 to P6, put her best effort in for all her subjects, yet cannot enter her dream school. She told her mom that she wish she was born in 2008, instead of 2009.
She should wish she had different parents - maybe she will have healthier perspective of life.

Don't have so many 'killer questions' in one paper one lah. PSLE papers are not like Maths and Science Olympics. Most of the points lost when already consistently at 85-95 range are due to carelessness anyway, especially for maths and science. Tuition does not really help to get that 1-2 extra marks. So don't have to waste time, money and energy on tuition aiming for 98-100. Better spend more time getting basic proficiency in English or MTL.

To reduce PSLE stress or to raise the standard for English and MTL? So the efforts, time and money spent on Maths and Science tuition now switched over to the languages? Back to square one.

That doesn't quite matter. What I know is that every new minister will try to leave his mark and he won't gain much credit by implementing his predecessor's policies. So we have \"Every school is a good school\", \"AL banding\" and .....
