You mean here? I don't think have because over here is quite elitist, mainly on top primary schools, IP schools, jCs, all sorts of olympiads and a lot of tuition/enrichment centres. You can go to reddit. There are more info there.
oooh.... that's harsh. But the truth often is.

    • RE: Zaobao forum : Request for SEAB and MOE to listen to the parents frustration for PSLE math.

SEAB should stand firm and stick to their guns.

Once they set a precedent and be transparent for this 11 children, all hell will break loose. What about the rest of the children who took their PSLE this year? They might to review their Math Paper or maybe the other 3 subjects. What about PSLE in the following years?

What makes this 11 so special? Because they always got AL1? Because they go to Nan Hua?

      mystique_j\" post_id=\"2090848\" time=\"1669682337\" user_id=\"39431:

My DS is a good example. SA1 was AL5, then prelims AL9 with 3 subjects at 88, 88, 89.5. English he didn’t do well as he didn’t use the pictures well in his compo.
But fortunately he managed to recover for PSLE to get AL4 and it became a pleasant surprise for us.

This AL system is quite scary in that sense.
Especially if a student just made it to AL1/2/3/4. You can slip one AL with 0.5 to 1 mark less.

We saw that with our son for all his subjects. Hence we also managed his (and our own!) expectations on his PSLE performance and which school he may go to, including contingency planning for worst case scenarios..

Which came true when he got AL13 for prelims (3 higher vs. SA1) which would mean there's a good chance he will not get his first choice.

The upside was that he was a little less complacent for the PSLE and got AL9. We are of course happy but knowing how things are on such a fine edge, we will not be surprised if things swing again in the future

Not sure what’s the big deal. Actually LGBT characters are drastically underrepresented in popular media and often poorly represented when they are.

I heard that when PAP G announced such changes, the person had already been decided. It'll just be a drama series playing out for everyone else ...

It was reported in the newspaper that the Chan minister mistakenly addressed the Speaker of Parliament twice as \"Madam President\" before correcting himself ...
For that alone, I would like to say there is almost no chance I will vote for the PAP-backed candidate but unfortunately, the last PE had an alternative candidate who I won't piss on if he is on fire.

    • RE: Which brand/model of laptop has a number pad?

      Jennifer:
Went to Sim Lim Square this afternoon.

Turned out most laptops with number pad are gaming laptops.

Only a handful of business laptops, mostly no number pad, are available.

Fujitsu laptops can still be found at Sim Lim, but very limited quantity by a handful of shops. Its prices not low, at least $2k.

Lenovo has a good model, but I do not like the surface of its keypads

ASUS has a model which I can consider, priced around $1.5 and the shop can upgrade to 12GB RAM foc for me. Only downside is it only has the Intel standard graphics card, not those GT types.

On my way out, I saw a Panasonic Toughbook on display in another shop, no brochure available.
One other option you can consider is Aftershock (http://www.aftershockpc.com). They are a local outfit providing custom gaming laptops. My own history with them - I had 1 of their gaming laptop for 2 years and now using their gaming desktop for about 9 months.

Not sure why you are not keen on gaming laptops but their MX series might work for you for the following reasons:
      1) 15.6 inch laptop
      2) Comes with a numeric keypad
      3) Price starts from $1418 (which is around your budget)
      4) Customization options in terms of HDD and RAM
      5) Warranty 2 years for parts, 3 years for technical support

What I really like about them:
      1) Looks - Their machines are generally not gaudy if you do not want them to be. Just let them know. I have used my previous gaming laptop from them in office when my office laptop was not up to scratch and a number of colleagues were surprised about the unstated looks.

      2) No bloatware - Basically comes with Windows 10 and standard device drivers

      3) Service - This is the main reason I love these boys. They have a very good service culture in my experience such as offering free clean up (i.e. opening up and cleaning the heat vents etc) and clean installs. In fact, they helped me do a fresh install so that I can sell my previous laptop to someone else. (I can do it myself but they saved me time and effort because I just need to drop it off and pick it up later)

And of course, it's nice to support local 😄

      Imp75:
I must say to do well in HCL in PSLE, it is vital to start from young....best to be start HCL from P1....I find it perhaps challenging for CL pupils to suddenly take on the demands of HCL from P5 onwards. Why can't all schools start teaching HCL (instead of CL) from P1 since the demand should be there (can take HCL why don't take, children nowadays are like rubber band mah, super stretchable?). I thought all MOE CL tchrs should be equipped to teach HCL if they can teach CL. Resources like materials can be sourced from MOE.

I think having more options will be better for everyone:
      - If your child wants HCL, they should get to do it
      - If your child wants another language instead of CL, that's ok
      - If your child is happy to stick with only English, that's fine as well

You can try Newstead (formerly at Funan), now at Marina Square and a couple of other locations.

Challenger is still around but in the various malls.

Sim Lim is actually ok these days - just stick to the PC shops around 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. Some of the prices are set by the manufacturer so it’s quite "safe" in that sense.

Don’t expect much for middle income families as usual.

Although I will support increase in water tariffs - we use too much water compared to a quite a number of cities and given that we are not even self-sufficient in water, that’s unforgivable.
