thanks applecrumble for the info and breakdown! guess there's some hope here... GMPS looks to be the best option to monitor for a Christian non-Catholic school then... :boogie:doodlez01:
question on behalf of friend who is PR:- if >2km at phase 2C, what are the best choices for schools for boys (including co-ed)? as the friend is christian (non-catholic), are there any chances for christian schools (including co-ed)?
FYI, last year, balloting for PR children was only conducted in 8 schools for those living within 1 km of the school and another 6 for those living between 1 km and 2 km of the school.
The 3 mission schools which conducted balloting for PR children living between 1 km and 2 km of the school were:
- Geylang Methodist School (Primary)
- St Margaret's Primary School
- St Stephan's School
However, things may be different this year. So it would be best your friend monitor the MOE webpage at the end of each registration day for Phase 2C and call up the school which her son may stand a chance to get in.
All the best!! -

Sad to say, there are no Christian schools that are available to her because they are all very popular. There are 2 Catholic schools that she can consider:
Montfort Junior is very safe, easy to get in: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/hougang
St Gabriel's depends on yearly demand, some years PR outside 2km cannot get in: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/serangoon
Wish her all the best!
What about St. Stephen's? It's a boys-only school though.
thanks technospaz for your input... i think she's really hoping for a non-Catholic school. actually i didn't know st margaret's wasn't a Catholic mission school! -
Orb:
St Stephen's this year, good chance for Singapore PR as there is a whopping 30 more places compared to previous years. That is equivalent to 1 class size! Unless Singapore Citizens decided to avoid balloting and go for this school.
thanks orb for the analysis! alas, st stephen's doesn't look to be her choice school.zac's mum:

I don’t want to sound like I’m ruffling any feathers but I think PR shouldn’t be choosy in 2C. Just go for the school that offers the best chance of getting in. When it comes to phase 2CS, the options are further limited as SC would be scrambling for the last available slots in whatever primary school there is. -
Orb, I kinda agree too. But I guess with the number of surprise vacancies this year, everyone can be more selective about the schools out there.
-
All the best for those who are registering their kids under Phase 2C!

There is no update on MOE website on the number of registered application. Did any one tried calling up schools to check if they have the figure from online applications?
Since P1 registration officially starts today, MOE will update the website usually by 8pm tonight. -

Last year, CHIJ Nativity has gone to 2CS, so I thought of some chances here. Other schools, I can understand, but this year many vacancies compared to last year, so I thought I may have chances. If I dont get admission into these schools I may go for Indian International School where my son also studying which is being relocating to Punggol. As my daughter born here and I thought of sending her to Singaporean school. Thanks for sharing info.winvin:
Myself and my daughter are SPR, so my chances will be very less in the schools like Horizon, Mee Toh, CHIJ Nativity, PLMGS etc which I am aiming and 2 km away from almost all except PLMGS SPR within 1 km. I wanted to apply on the last day after knowing where I can have better chances. But it looks like online application which is easy to do is closing by Thursday? So I must go to school to apply on Friday? Any advise please?
Your chances are not very low for the schools listed - it is no chance at all. So, you can eliminate those schools. You would have to re select, and it's better to choose unpopular schools within 1km to maximise the probability as a PR. You may want to consider schools like Xinghua, Yio Chu Kang, Punggol Primary.
It will probably be safer to apply in person on Friday in case there's a surge in applications, especially from SC. You can still proceed to your next option.
