Gd morning everyone! The following update on this year’s recently held international math n science Olympiads is a tribute to the Raffles Academy teachers:
International Math Olympiad: 4G 2S best medal haul by Singapore team. Country rank 4th.
3 members of Team SG ranked 8th and joint 9th out of over 600 competitors and they are RI boys.
International Biology Olympiad: 4G medals with 3 team members from RIJC. The top 2 members, who are RI boys, ranked 1st and 3rd.
International Physics Olympiad: 2G 3S, both golds medalists and a silver medalist are RI boys, with the top member ranked 10th.
International Chemistry Olympiad results will be announced over the weekend.
Only with the dedicated guidance of Raffles Academy and the support from peers / instructors from clubs and related courses, could these boys grab the highly competitive spots for the various national teams through vigorous selection tests. RI is indeed a great place to be for those who wish to pursue their passions. -
:congrats:
Impressive, as always.. :rahrah:
Thanks for the update, naggo-nitemare. -
What is one student’s life at Raffles Institution?
Is it long long hours at school and returning at 7+pm in the evening?
Are the students very competitive?
No doubt about the school’s facilities, there are vast facilities as far as I know. -
Manga32:
Regarding hours in school, it depends on your DS's CCA and whether he has additional subjects (MEP, CSP, 3rd language, etc). The school's official release time is as follows:What is one student's life at Raffles Institution?

Monday: 3.30 pm
Tuesday: 1.50 pm
Wednesday: 3.30 pm
Thursday: 2.10 pm
Friday: 12.30 pm
CCA's frequency depends on each CCA but at least 2 times a week. Sports CCA usually has higher practice frequency.
There is competition amongst students but it is not the type where students are selfish. Students actually help each other. If they ask their friends to explain, their friends will explain. If they post questions in their class Whatsapp group, their classmates will answer. -

Mon, Wed and Fri are CCA days, certain sports require them to go back to school on Sat as well. On these days esp Mon n Wed , i dont see my boy until 7.30pm
Tue - early release are for students to attend 3rd language classes
Thurs - MSP-RSP
I agree they are a rather collaborative lot, dont be shy, ask and the classmates will help. There are PSLs to help them as well -

Dear RI parents,
For DSA application, does anyone know what is the likelihood for WL to be converted to CO?
Thanks very much in advance. -
:congrats: to Sean Ong and Joshua Chin (Class of 2015) on being awarded President's Scholars this year. All the best on your future endeavours. :rahrah:

Hi, does anyone know how class allocation for RI (JC) is done? Is it by GPA or just the GP of the subjects you’re taking?
Thanks in advance.
