          My DD is good at multi-tasking. U-tube, watsapp and schoolwork concurrently…but .somehow, relieved that she does not appear stressed.

                daughter told me yesterday she has LC prelim today…I told her I am aware. the teachers are giving them a lot of stress for the prelims…told her the important one is PSLE, for prelims just take it easy.

                the REAL thing is next month… crazy to stress the students out at this point.

                  Yes, according to DS, the school stressed to them prelims is very important as it is a strong indication of where they stand in PSLE.

                    but if the poor kids are stressed like this for prelims, they will get burnt out before psle.

                      I recommend to my students to take the Prelims very seriously for two reasons:

                      1. If they do well, it will boost their confidence enormously and they will coast to and through the PSLE. Conversely, if they perform poorly then their confidence might take a hit;

                      2. Most importantly, if for some reason they are not able to sit the PSLE itself or sit it under constrained circumstances, then MOE can use the Prelims results. This, for example, actually occurred a few years ago when several students - from Montfort Junior if I remember correctly - suffered food poisoning from the school canteen and had to be hospitalised during the PSLE.

                        After having 2 experiences (DS1 and myself) of doing better in prelims than in PSLE, do remember to try and help DCs peak at the right time too...though I am not sure how that's done!
