janet: no holidays helps one save a lot. But no holidays can be quite moody leh... :sad: Some companies require staff to take compliance leave annually for audit purposes, e.g. the bankers. Got holiday allowance too, so not too bad lah.

No tuition, but how much have you spent on assessment books and guide books? Also not cheap.

I agree no maid = a big saver. $1,000 to feed an extra mouth. Make sure there're many masters and mistresses at home to take care of.

my hubby is one lucky man to have a wife who isn't keen on holidays.

as of now, daughter has English tuition while son has tuition for Bio & English. if and when son goes to Poly, he should not require tuition. But daughter going to Sec 1 might still need for English. Assessment books have cost me a bundle over the years.

No maid over the past 8 years have helped me saved a substantial amount of money and high blood moments.

With the weather getting hotter, I will need air con. Washing machine runs once a day.

Daily washing,cooking with aircon
i think $200 plus is rather reasonable range if turn on 3 aircons per night for abt 8 to 9hrs of sleep.

I use the dryer only when it is the rainy season…but i have to wash clothes everyday and switch on air con at night.

We use the dryer frequently - for home clothes and bedsheets .

After it is spin dry by the current washing machine, it takes about an hour for the dryer to dry them.
(Was 90 mins for my previous washing machine as clothes don’t come out as dry then)
Don’t know how much electricity it consumes, our utility bill is about $130 a month and we dont usually on the air con unless the air quality is bad .

Depends on the temperature, how wet the clothes were to start with (this depends on the washing machine's spin speed), the thickness and material of the clothes, and the quantity of clothes. 3 hrs seems extreme unless it's a very big load full of thick towels and heavy jeans! Shirts and light cotton stuff would dry in under an hour, I would expect.

I have a dryer, but I hang up the laundry first, and only put the heavy stuff in the dryer for 20-30 mins after they have hung for a day. Light stuff mostly doesn't need to be tumble dried unless it's a very cool and humid day. I do this not entirely to save on electricity bills, but also to be \"green\"-er.

Hmm... I use the spin dry function in WM.

It serves me well; no dripping before I hang the washed clothes for sun-tan.
I guess I saved little in this manner
