          In my daughter's time, it was the better of the two, and you could only retake the written papers. I presume that's still the case.

            It depends on your oral as you can only retake P1 and P2

                      I would prefer him to move on and focus on the other subjects since he is not fantastic in his humanities and chemistry.

                        6 points is quite a lot.. which course does he intend to do? Does he know the cutoff point for the course?
