son's oral is a merit...Chinese c6. I would consider it an achievement since he has no tuition.
I would prefer him to move on and focus on the other subjects since he is not fantastic in his humanities and chemistry. -

he wants to go to the poly.
if he retakes O level Chinese again, he would have to spend time preparing for it and there is no guarantee the result will be better. -
Poly cut off point have been decreasing and competition has been very stiff. Removing chinese also does not mean other subjects will improve. Just my 2 cents.

the decision lies with him. after all, he is the one studying and if he doesn't have the confidence to get a better grade, I rather he moves on. -
