      randwick:
The P6 prelim papers are usually so much tougher than any other exam papers so to use the scores as a fall-back for the psle is not very reasonable.

DD had her math prelim paper yesterday and she said Paper 2 was very tough. Tougher than all the other practice prelim papers she did. My heart sank upon hearing this though I was expecting this. :nailbite: DD's teacher warned the class that the coming Science Paper is going to be a difficult one also. Sigh!

I told dd to pray and just to do her best. Poor kids. 🤷
Ya also received info from ds's science teacher that tomorrow's science paper is going to be more difficult than past years 😓

I tell my DD1 that at this stage of preparing for PSLE, our objective is to deal with the system and get the necessary marks in order to lead us somewhere else. I also tell her honestly that in my opinion, there is no real educational value for her at this stage, but that is something we have to bear with while being cognisant about. Now that she is better at understanding this rationale, she seems less argumentative and resistant to why we have to do what we are doing.

I think as long as we are clear of our first principles, we do not necessarily have to be consumed by the system while we work within it.

        My two cents worth.
        Good post!
I felt sad when dd told me some of her classmates hv started getting headaches and insomnia. There was a boy who came to school with marks bearing tcm cupping on his forehead. He is very good in his studies and he has been experiencing severe headaches and giddiness recently. And there are so many telling her how worried they are of the psle.

Thanks Sun_2010. Have been feeling very down lately. Like Imeemee, my DS was also sick . But his started during oral. He could still do but was very, very down and not his usual self. This week is his prelims and thank goodness he is getting better. But better is not best. Sincerely hope he is ok for the PSLE written papers.

I feel very discouraged and overwhelmed by this system that puts such young children through so much stress...even when they are sick. Even adults can't function when they are unwell. Exhorting Singaporeans to be a more compassionate and humane society is simply not going to work if we show such blatant disregard for children's health and wellbeing.

I tell my DD1 that at this stage of preparing for PSLE, our objective is to deal with the system and get the necessary marks in order to lead us somewhere else. IMmeemee thank you for your reply.... apologies,I think you did not quite get the point I was trying to make. My point is that I don't think we should be dealing with such a system in the first place.
For example, I should not in the first place have to tell my child there is \"no educational value\" at any stage in their school lives.

First principles are different for different people. And I can definitely tell you we are pretty clear about ours. It's just the rat race and the relative paucity of values therein that I do not like.

Yep very hard not to get influenced by the madness. Sometimes I get paranoid too. But as long as we can come to our senses soon, it is ok .

Just 41 days more for this madness to end 😄
PSLE is just next month...I don't know whether to be happy or feel more stressed. 2moro will be Science prelim. Next week will be Term 3 week 10...it's really hard to handle stress level for the next 3 weeks.

Parents are stress cos at the back of our minds we are aiming our kids to go to the top school. But if we change our thinking and just wanna our kids to be happy and not feeling stress over PSLE, so long they try their best and u will soon realise that our kids can absorb and learn better! Remember to let our kids rest well and avoid junk food.

this 1 month leading up to psle is crucial…minimal eating out and avoiding deep fried/oily food as much as possible. drink more water as the weather is very hot.

Juz sharing based on experience: try do up a personal timetable for revision to be focus n more realistic of what u can achieve in your revision work for each subject. Plus impt to include some time in the timetable for relaxation like games or sports or juz non exam stuff to relax your brain. This planning skill is also applicable when u are in secondary school coz by then u have more subjects and ccas and other activities.

Even though psle is just next month itz still not too late to come up with a timetable.
                  Good luck !

after the prelims end today, I don't know what the school has in store leading up to the PSLE. The rest of today and 2moro will be play days and we will work on past year exam papers from Saturday onwards. have to be cautious while planning the weekly schedule...to be on the ball but yet not pushy.

My DD’s classmate had an anxiety attack when the MT teacher was doing oral with them just before PSLE Oral. Play & Study so can Learn Effectively (PSLE).

Tomorrow last paper (Sci).DS said his Maths prelims was tougher than the past year Psle papers that he had attempted 😓 .For Paper 2 he only managed to check once (said he was stressed 😢 ).
Really have to rest well for the next few days to recharge.. Cheers all Mummies 😂
