which tuition centre is good for P4/P5 English composition ?
-
My girl failed her English composition.
I am very desperate now. She is P4 this year. Next year P5.
Need help and hope you can share which centre is good. She is currently in one of the ‘popular’ centre in thomson but sadly no improvement at all. -

In my opinion, it is not so much the centre as the individual teacher/tutor: an excellent teacher can make effective use of poor materials; a poor teacher cannot make effective use of excellent materials. Still, some centres have more strengths in certain areas that others. If you care to pm a copy of one of your daughter's compositions, I'll happily give you some general advice about what you need to look for in a centre for your daughter's case and which centres that I know of might be able to help. -
Does anyone have feedback about TAS and Seeds d learning’s Creative Writing classes? Or any creative writing schools to recommend in marine parade for P3? Pls pm me. Thanks!!

besides TAS, The Learning Lab, Learning Point, British Council, MindStretcher, The Write Connection, Write Corner, LCentral, Literacy Circle, Morris Allen, Jan & Elly, Madam Yip -

kitty2, thanks for sharing. At the risk of making myself unpopular, I personally think the boy has tried way too hard to impress with vocabulary. Presumably he had dictionary resources to hand and the assistance of a teacher. In focusing on insertion of purple prose rather than precise and effective vocabulary, all sorts of errors have arisen eg cramping, scant, and waterlogged are used wrongly. I prefer good content supported by vocabulary.
Still, a student producing this under exam conditions would score highly. However, it is too lengthy for the PSLE. -

I am impressed with the writing. My elder one is only P3 and I wonder if this is the kind of standard expected of a P6? Do most P6 write like this?
