I think I can still help daughter for history in sec 1...that's about it. Math and science would require hubby's help. English tuition will continue.

Son said to continue she would have to continue with Math questions even after her PSLE as she cannot forget the foundation.

When we first started PSLE 2016 discussion, it was just months ago and it was less than 1 year. Now we are down to just 4 days before the real thing. Really 😓 cant imagine even my younger one will be done with PSLE soon and going on to secondary school. Yes, this year is super jialat...my brain has been jammed with tuition dates, planning revision schedules and simple meals. No offence but better than PSLE this year and O level next year. My hair will be all white.
When dd is in sec, i think i can only help her with Chinese. I think i will be more worried about whether she gets along with her new friends...

She told me she feels like vomitting...perhaps a sign that she is stressed...

      A few more days...

DS skipped school 2/5 days this week, down with flu and cough and breathlessness. I was worried sick! Then I realised as compared to getting good grades, I really truely want him to get well, grades becomes secondary!
Let us pray that all our children stay healthy all the way! :grphug:

              Dear parents,

my cousin's DD got CO from NYGH and R from RGS, but doesnt want to go there.... in fact she really very very very strongly loves RGS because of multiple reasons. She even is considering rejecting NYGH and trying for RGS. But she did quite terribly for prelim and is now really trying hard, should he let her go for it or try and persuade her to go the safer route by accepting NYGH? :?:
thank you for all your help:)
(the cousin in question does not have an account but he will read the forums.)

Though both are excellent schools, culture in both schools are very different. I am somewhat surprised that she applied to both schools (or maybe it is just me.) They should consider how the transition will be and if she will fit in well. Secondary school is very much about personal identity and social identity.

Child’s personality and relationship with parents - if she is very stubborn and headstrong and she ends up unhappy in NYGH, will she blame the parents for everything?

Conversely, ask her if she is ready to end up in neither - is there a third choice she will be happy in?

Only apply to 2 schools if child is relatively neutral between the two. Perhaps need to ask your cousin’s dd why is she so against the idea of going to NYGH? Address her concerns and she might change her mind.

I told dd upfront whichever school offered her a CO, she would take it. If there is only 1 CO being offered, she would accept that 1 Co.
No point wasting time applying if there’s no intention of accepting CO

We should always only DSA if we really want to go to that school. It is not a game of chope as many seats as we can. Otherwise we will just be wasting our own time, the school’s time, and spoiling the chances for other students who could have gotten the CO otherwise.

Her daughter will be the one attending the school for the next 6 years, so perhaps should let her decide. Do not want her daughter to blame her if she is not happy with NYGH. Futhermore, both schools are really different in culture. My DD refuse to apply for DSA to NYGH because Chinese is her weakest subject. I respect her decision and we only applied to RGS.

She should still highlight to her daughter that if she does not accept NYGH CO, she should be prepared to accept that her PSLE results may not qualify her for both.

I will be more than happy to be lost. Reality.. I have a looming SA2 to prepare for. Can't relax completely till it's over :gloomy:
which level is your younger child in?
SA2 written papers usually start after PSLE marking days. so the elder one gets to relax and the younger one might protest 'unfair'.
