yes its correct

cream and chocolate:
My DS says P + S not equal to 1/2 of the square...ah my DD said that Q17b is 7/18
bcos she said that P+S is 1/2 of the square and P is 1/9 so S is 1/2-1/9= 9/18-2/18= 7/18 so she put final answer 7/18
is it correct?

Which is 17b again?

We know that length is 6 cm.
So Area of Q and R = 1/2 x B x H = 1/2 x 6 x 6 = 18 cm sq
Since Q = 6 cm sq, R = 12 cm sq
Therefore, S = 36 - (4+6+12) = 14 cm sq
Fraction of S to Whole Figure will be 14/36 = 7/18 -
What is 17b? My DD put 7/18

For Q17b, note that the area (Q+R) is equal to 1/2 of the square. Since area (P+S) + area (Q+R) = area of square, the area (P+S) must be 1/2 of the square as well. Since the area of P is 1/9 of the square, area of S = 1/2 - 1/9 = 7/18.

Paper 1 last question is 4

Length is 6 there are 2 which area is 2u and 3u if u look, u can see that the figure is split into 2 equal parts, 9u, 9u since the one with 2 units has an area of 4, that means the one u hv to find is 18-4=14 14/36 = 7/18
