It won't be on Friday this year as the 21st is a Wednesday so it will be mid-week.

Sorry, what do you mean by 21st is a Wednesday? 21st November is a Monday. and results is on MOE website to be anytime 24-28 November.

I'm talking about Secondary School posting date not PSLE results date. The secondary school will be confirmed on 21st December (tentative date) with reporting to the new school on the following day.

How did you get the tentative date of 21 Dec?

I think 2015 S1 posting exercise was on 22 Dec 2015 (Tue) so the "projected" 2016 tentative date should also be a Tuesday (20 Dec 2016) and the students reporting to the new school the following day.

Hi all, my dd just received the handbook for choosing secondary school.


I'm just wondering, since the COP indicated for the schools are based on last year, how do I go about choosing the schools? What is the buffer I should apply to my child's actual aggregate? I recall reading a parent's comment that during the year her child took PSLE, she did not apply for the school she really wanted to, which was Nanyang Girls, but turned out that year, the COP was a few points lower than the previous year's.

Anyone who has gone through this can advise?

You have a total of 6 choices, so you can distribute it as follows:
- first 2 choices: schools with COP above your child's T-score (usually 2-3 points above unless you are hearing that year's T-score seems to have dropped drastically. Even so, sometimes there is a \"crunch\" at certain range, so maybe top range schools COP overall drop but mid range COP increase due to more scores within that range)
- next 2 choices: schools with COP around your child's range (same or 1 point above / below)
- last 2 choices: schools with COP below your child's T-score (again 2-3 points below unless you are hearing that year's T-score has increased drastically so you might want to cater to the downside)

Spread your school choice wisely to cater for upside and downside. Do not aim for the sky only to discover that it cannot be reached and your child ended up at some schools not within your choices (allotted by MOE).

i happened to see the calendar of a secondary school website. it stated 21/12/16 as a tentative date for sec 1 posting.

Thanks nms1! We will be overseas so need to monitor the date and hopefully MOE will replace \"tentative\" with a confirmed date soon.

If you intend to travel with your PSLE graduate kid, the best time to do so is now. Don't wait till November/December. Things will be less crowded for you and your family and you can come back refreshed and in time to handle all the admin things you have to do after PSLE results.

But school is still going on for P6. We got only 4 days off this week for the PSLE marking days. How to take a longer vacation now?
From about 19th Nov (after school ends) till about 19th Dec (just before the results are out) would be the time for a longer holiday.
