I suppose with agent, if she does anything wrong, the agent will discipline her. If the agent does anything wrong, MOM will discipline the agent. There is little implication on you even if they do anything illegal as you have proof of your passport that you are out of town during that period.

If left alone at home, if anything happens to her, it will bring you more trouble. If left with a friend, if your friend does not mind the trouble for 5 days it is fine. For me, I would not be able to help as a friend if my friend approaches me because I am not at home most of the time so the maid has to follow me around which would make it inconvenient for me.

Wow, I might have been too liberal then after hearing all your opinions :shock: . I have left my maids at home before when we went on short vacations. I'll give them a list of tasks to do while we are away. Usually some major cleaning work that's not done frequently. We also leave her some $$ to buy food. I figure if she wants to steal or do something funny, she can always do it when we're out even when we're not on holiday. We usually tell her specifically not to let any people into our house before we leave. At the end of the day, we just have to trust her.


However, if the maid is new, then better not leave her alone at home.

Just saw this scary news from HK's Apple Daily. It's about an Indo maid giving her employer's 4 yr-old son urine water from her toilet. It also mentioned other disgusting cases involving Indo maids in the past :!:

被告印傭 Mariyatun（ 26歲），被控於今年 4月 2日在秀茂坪邨秀程樓某單位內，為使一名男童身體受嚴重傷害，非法及惡意向他施用毒藥、殘害性或有害物品，即一杯從坐廁取得、含有尿液的液體。

喝下兩口拒絕再飲
控方透露，事發當日，案中女僱主要求被告替她斟水，供年約四歲的兒子飲用。被告照做，惟少主喝下兩口後，不肯再飲。女僱主察覺有異，頓起疑心，即場問罪，並報警求助。
警方到場調查，被告始承認案發時於家中洗手間小便，然後在未有冲廁的情況下，暗中在坐廁舀出一杯污水，供少主飲用。控方昨日未有透露被告犯案原因。
控方昨申請將案押後，等候政府化驗所檢驗涉案液體成份，並向律政司索取法律意見。署任主任裁判官馬保華批准被告以 500元擔保外出。
過往曾有多宗牽涉外籍家傭於僱主飲食中「加料」的案件。 07年一名印傭將自己的尿液混入飲用水給僱主母女飲，認罪後被判監三個月。同年亦有印傭為報復僱主苛待，將洗過女僱主內褲的污水，混入開水供僱主一家三口飲用，令一家腹瀉，判囚半年。

經血炒菜疑案駭人
但要數最駭人聽聞的案件，莫過於去年一名工作表現欠佳的印傭，將衞生巾上的經血擠出，放入鑊中灼菜，企圖「落降」令女僱主服用後善待她。她一度被控意圖損害而施用殘害性或有害物品罪名，惟律政司研究案情後，認為未能證明經血有害，決定撤回控罪。印傭獲釋，輿論譁然。
根據法例，任何人為危害他人生命或使他人身體受嚴重傷害，而非法及惡意施用毒藥、或其他殘害性物品或有害物品，最高可判處十年監禁。

I've had 1 filipina add urine to our soyabean and another, filipina also, who spat into my cup of green tea.


It was my mil who noticed the strong smell of urine in her soyabean, while I saw the green tea looking slightly foamy and questioned her. After warning the first one, we retained her, coz dd was too young then. With the 2nd one, we sent her packing straightaway.

So, these cases are real but unavoidable and we are really at the mercy of maids.

Moonee, can't offer much advice here as I've no experience with Myanmese but the ones that my friend has trained generally quiet and unassuming. And very caring to her special needs child. Some are really very qualified as nurses, and may understand a little Chinese if they are from the border states (with China) so that may be a thought.

Hi Andiaz, tks for responding, really appreciate yr concern and ... gonna need it. Im actually quite \"down\" lately, kind of pissed off with this recent maid issue. Ive decided to switch to my aunts agent and this time round Im gonna be selecive unlike the last 3 times, my agent has a way of pushing his many times transfered maids to me and arranging it such that the maids would overlap each time while he find an employer for my maid. Ahh, all to his benefit.!
Hey its 2.30 am now. Ive actually been doing the household chores and got to get my dd up at 5.20am so im kind of sleepy at this time. I dnt think i can go without a maid for long but am happy to hv my privacy for now... also been chasing my dd as exams just started and the schools streaming them at the end of the year again. What a time not to have a maid, cant give her too much attention this term.
Seems a little harder to get Christian Myanmar but I will check again next week. :love:

It's repeated mistake. It's frustrating that after numerous times, same mistake.


Anyway, if she really wants to go, I'm not begging her to stay. Really sick of all these maids.

MOM really spoilt it for employers. Every minor thing, and they want to transfer employer.

I understand u fully, Its their world now!! :stupid: Yes, tks to MOM and the agent, they know they can choose and transfer as many times till they find a hse that suits them. Ai yah, all on work holiday :x Just find fault with employer to get transfer. Lucky she didnt lie and accuse u fof abuse.

Hi Si Si, Thanks for the tip, I tot all came frm yagoon. Yup, i heard they have no common sense, slow etc,, but Im prepared for all that. Tks for highlighting on the various states they come frm too. Never heard of chin state. Karen and shang.
