it is impt if there is year end 'streaming' in to top few classes.
it is impt cos it gives the kid a feel good factor if he does well.
it (SA1) is impt cos it wakes up the kid (and parent) if he does not do well.
it is impt cos it is the only time your kid gets to do very well cos as the level progresses, the syllabus gets harder.
but compare to PSLE, no, not important ba

At last ksi started this......DS1 do have CA, SA1.....throughout the year. In P2, the so called Honeymoon year, i still feel the pre exam fever and worried will be having post exam fever, like last year.....
Waiting for the results is no joke leh, especially when DS1 always tell me,\" So easy.....\", this makes me worried more
As compared with last year, I am \"dealing\"(the only way to comfort myself) better this year. I have been trying to :siam: , but still gotta face it....
Starting from mid march, i have been giving past year papers from the top schools for DS1 to do. To date, still quite a pile left
His written paper starts on 2nd week of May, so still have time to do a few more  But i won't be giving him last minute (1 day before exam) to do, which turned out quite bad for him during his last SA1. As for physical preparation, drink more water than usual, and his usual cod liver oil to keep his immune, and try to boil \"cooling herbal tea\" for everyone to bring down the hot temperature, and lastly not forgetting the sufficient sleep/rest to boost his concentration!!

You can have honeymoon whole of this year, but not in pri two, cos streaming kicks in...hope this helps.

Hi, my P5 DD starting doing the top schools past year SA1 papers after the March holiday. She has completed ¾ of the Maths/Science papers. The maths papers are no easy as there are various model/pattern to remember especially “ratio”. Very IMPORTANT, the Maths must take timing otherwise you may not able to complete the test and also no time for checking.
Now we would just slowly review through those mistakes and emphasis the important key point/concept/model.
For English paper 2 (95 mark), we would practice more on “Fill in each blank with a suitable word” and “Comprehension Open-ended\" this two area marks are 35/95.
For Chinese paper 2 will focus on 理解问答1 and理解问答2 (13 question total marks 34/90 of the paper 2), some 4 marks questions are not easy to attempt to provided you can understand the whole story very well and have good 词汇to answer. Therefore we would focus more on these types of questions. Others section which are multiply choices if the child not sure can still take chance.
For English Paper 1, DD class so far had completed 8 sets of composition and situational writing in the class with timing measure. Therefore DD would just need to select a few hot topics to read through and takes notes of some good phrases of words.
For Chinese Paper 1, DD would review some good model and most importantly know how to write the good beginning and good ending/conclusion. Some appropriate 成语 for different circumstances/situations to be used.
For listening test, no practice as we think by watching all these English/Chinese show daily should have more or less help her in this area.
To relax, activities remain the same. She would still carry on with the normal activities like swimming class, watching favour English cartoon show, 红白喜事,综艺大哥大 , playing UNO and game boy /computer game (0.5 hours for break).
The above is our little contribution  on the experience of handling SA1 for the primary 5. -

Besides worrying and feeling stressed, we know we can't help much since we are not the ones sitting for the exam.
That is true..
