hahahahaha what to do, I know a lot of people cos I appear in school so many times…

honestly I think my presence will give her pressure…maybe it is better if daddy is around instead.

For those transparencies statistics, aiya, I have my sources to get those immediately after being flashed.

Did a shortlist of schools for all score ranges already. I will avoid looking at my kid’s expression at the moment of truth. Rather get delayed telecast.

Sharing some of my thoughts here after reading some of the posts…

I think our responses as parents are very important to our children at this stage of their lives. Although repeatedly I told my children that grades doesn’t matter and what it really matter was their attitudes in the process of preparing for the exam and their responses to the results, I am concern that on the results’ day I may express otherwise…Do not underestimate the importance of a father’s love and acceptance… (mum too!)

So I have practiced a bit on how to express myself well to my DS…going through my mind the various scenarios… haa! Like results is far expectations, within expectations, below expectations or far below expectations… My DS is worth all of this and more…

I had talked at length with my wife too about this… we decided that we must let this PSLE results’ day be a Day of wonderful memories. My ds is more important and precious to me n my wife than any grades… Swee, good, bad or ugly… we will be cheering all the way…

I know there are many "schools" of thoughts about the importance of PSLE results some espousing that it does not really matter in the long run… But imho, for a primary school kid whose only major exam so far is the PSLE, it is a pretty BIG event.! Either it became a stepping stone to go forward or it is a stumbling block in their memories and I am determine to make this a stepping stone for my DS…

In the meanwhile, I have been talking with him about managing expectations and how to rejoice with friends who do well and comfort those who do not.

                    .
                    I get what you mean.
I pick my dd up from her school everyday and I do get asked about dd's results very often.
                    Every CA, Every SA..
My reply is usually OK or not so ideal, never the exact mark.
(But the kids will ask among themselves, so there‘s no secret)

I was still there at the PSLE results release date - just in case my dd needs support, I can be there for her as she is closer to me than dh and bring her home if she needs more privacy.

                      so agreed with you @Concerndad.

After the coroner report was out for the P5 boy (really sad sad case), I reiterate with my boys that exams/test are only a small part of our life. Exam/test does not mold a person life. Failed once doesn’t mean it is the end of the life. There are many more to come. Perseverance, best effort and able to pick yourself up after a fall are the important attribute of a person. Whatever score a child had, is just a score. What matters most is the child. Family matters.

                        Hi! laughingcat…

                        Thank you. Family matters…

Let’s us use this period till the results release date to compose and prep ourselves, so that years and years later, all that our children can remember was the laughters, the tenderness and yes, even the tears together as a family ~ how loving you all are together…

                        Dear Janet88…
I believe you will stand strong n well for your precious daughter… A mother who walked with her darling daughter through thick n thin, through tears and laughters, through silent struggles and hard-fought victory, will not forsake her at the last moment.
