I think what she's asking is pretty steep, depending on where she comes from, but working at other places is a definite illegal request. To make this request, she must have been not too savvy about this - means she has heard about others doing it, but hasn’t really done it before, so she may be trying her luck with you.

You can limit phone to non-smart phones only, which is reasonable.

Going by just this info, personally, I would steer clear of her, unless you're happy with her other virtues.

Maids who ask for all these will be Pino maids. They are more daring n demanding.

These type are better off workg for Ang Mos or expatriates than locals becos of their workg attitudes.

$650 with off days every Sunday is quite ex…and if she goes home every year, she pays for her own airfare? cos you only need to pay for her when her contract ends. I am sure she will not want to hold a non-smartphone, after hearing her requests… Well, unless you think she is really super good and will be v discipline with her phone, i think better give her a miss, cos haven’t start work already got requests, what will happen after she start work?

Hmm...sounds like my helper...she has weekly Sunday off, $650 salary and yearly home leave too. She has her own hp and has been with me for 9yrs.

I think the rate is reasonable as long as she is hardworking with good attitude. But I will not allow her to work at other places since that is not allowed by MOM.

she is a indian punjabi maid… she has heard her friends do it…working on sundays and i think she is doing it now too… i dont have problem wat she does on off days except that its illegal and might create issues later on.

for yearly off i told her i can only pay one way fare not return.
she currently has smart phone… given by her current employer… when I ask her that its too much she is asking she says the rules have changed and sundays off are mandatory and salary has increased and she has sg exp for 4 years and all… frankly im tired of searching and scruitinizing maids just want to hire one… but very concerned about working outside on off days…

Forgot to add that I only agree to yearly home leave after my helper has worked with me for many years. If she is a new helper, I will not agree to it. I want to know her work attitude better before giving so much perks.

Perks are easy to give but impossible to take back.

I would tell the fdw that working for other employers is against the law and insert that clause in. She is an adult. If she choose to flout that law, I as an employer do NOT want to know about it else MOM could haul the employer up as an accomplice.

Did she come with reference? Were you able to speak to her latest employer?

If you are willing to pay $650 and give 4 Sundays off, I think there are many others with similar experience out there who do not ask to go back yearly and to work at other places on Sundays.

Yea found her through reference and the employer is all praises for her… their kids have grown up so no need anymore… and my friend sublet their home and observed her too and she also says shes good and trustworthy.

i think 650$ with 4 off days is very steep! im only paying my maid $520 with 4 off days. i suggest you should search for others. just my opinion

It's reasonable for experienced maid however do take note that the request she put up. I don't like my maid to use her phone as it will affect her work.. what if she was too distracted with her phone while taking care of the kids?
