she is a indian punjabi maid… she has heard her friends do it…working on sundays and i think she is doing it now too… i dont have problem wat she does on off days except that its illegal and might create issues later on.

for yearly off i told her i can only pay one way fare not return.
she currently has smart phone… given by her current employer… when I ask her that its too much she is asking she says the rules have changed and sundays off are mandatory and salary has increased and she has sg exp for 4 years and all… frankly im tired of searching and scruitinizing maids just want to hire one… but very concerned about working outside on off days…

Forgot to add that I only agree to yearly home leave after my helper has worked with me for many years. If she is a new helper, I will not agree to it. I want to know her work attitude better before giving so much perks.

Perks are easy to give but impossible to take back.

I would tell the fdw that working for other employers is against the law and insert that clause in. She is an adult. If she choose to flout that law, I as an employer do NOT want to know about it else MOM could haul the employer up as an accomplice.

I found a maid ready to join me but asking 650$ a month with 4 sundays off and go home every year. also saying she wants to work in other places on sundays, wants her phone. she has 4 years sg exp good with kids, and cooks well and good at house cleaning.

Is this the current price.. Is this a good deal?
Did she come with reference? Were you able to speak to her latest employer?

If you are willing to pay $650 and give 4 Sundays off, I think there are many others with similar experience out there who do not ask to go back yearly and to work at other places on Sundays.

i think 650$ with 4 off days is very steep! im only paying my maid $520 with 4 off days. i suggest you should search for others. just my opinion 😄

It's reasonable for experienced maid however do take note that the request she put up. I don't like my maid to use her phone as it will affect her work.. what if she was too distracted with her phone while taking care of the kids?

I used to have full time maids when my older kids were younger. They were quite responsible. They were from Indo. But after relying on part time help for a while, i decided to get full time again as I had another kid. But I really find the maids nowadays a different breed. They are very thin skin, come here and work but not serious. They keep making mistakes and then when get scolded will get upset. I am really at a loss. Now on my third maid and this is within a span of 2 years. In the past the helpers can work at least 2 years. Should I switch to Pinoys?

Difficult to say, lei... really depends on luck. I had a Pinoy that had work experience in the middle east. But she was often so distracted she totally forgot to feed by baby. A few times! And later on I realized she had the habit of ransacking my things, and finally, she stole from us. And some of them in my area would gather everyday with their dogs and kids and chat very loudly and sounds very vulgar and rough. Long hair, long nails, tank tube, smartphone with blue tooth, etc. Having came from all the maid nonsense, I would say, try very hard to do without them is the best.

Sigh yes agree, now I am making do with part time cleaner and part time baby sitter but it is much more expensive. And house is perpetually messy:(
