I complained to MOM that it is totally ridiculous that they cannot confirm the date given that it is such an important day for our children. They gave me a very standard response \"We would like to share that the results of the 2016 PSLE Examination results will be released between 24 and 28 November 2016 (Tentative). The release date is usually confirmed after all the processes are completed and checked, which is usually a few days before the date of release of results. Once confirmed, the dates will be announced through the media.\"

Totally missed the point that I was making that an organisation like MOE should be able to commit to a date more than a few days in advance. Imagine what my boss would say if I told him I would tell him next Monday if I could complete a project by the end of the week or not?!

We have our CEO, CFO etc in town on the 24th and 25th for budget presentations in which I am involved. Luckily my boss will be a PSLE parent next year so he is being accommodating and said he will juggle the schedule so I can be with my daughter but not all bosses are so understanding.

I understand that pupils get their results slip in their own classroom with parents standing along the corridor? Has the school stopped asking the top performers to go up stage ?

Each school has its own practice. For my DS school, the name for top 3 of each class will be flashed on the screen and invited to stage to shake hand with the school principal. The school group the students base on P4 results so the top 3 of the top class are definitely the top 3 in the school as well.

In the case my DS, he was in the second best class. Our first pleasant surprise was his name was called out in the top 3 in his class. The second bigger surprise and I recalled myself jumping out of the seat when his name appeared again in the top 10 list. The top 10 in the school rarely come from the second best class in his school. In fact none of his classmate including himself get the top 10% Edusave scholarship for both P5 and P6.

since 2012, schools are not allowed to identify top performers.

Thanks..so after listening to the P's talk, I suppose pupils will go to class to receive results? Sigh... imagine seeing friends jumping with joy while some will be teary... quite a traumatic experience.

Reading these result-release related issues is giving me the jitters :nailbite:

                    One month more to go.

After that, the flurry of choosing schools based on DD's results, the dilemmas, the submitting of the options, so on...

So not looking forward... to the changes, the uncertainties.

I think they don't reveal the marks but they do acknowledge the top performers although they don't rank them. At least that's what I heard from friends who went through it last year.

Thought it is done in hall....so uneventful if in the small classroom with parents cramp outside the narrow corridor. :slapshead:
