It's usually more difficult to replace P in mission schools.

A neighborhood principal coming on board does not necessarily mean the school standard will drop.
My elder boy graduated from PH in 2009 and the younger brother in 2013. During then, I already felt the school had gone softer in the amount of school workload given to children.
Anyway you might not believe the some neighborhood schools are actually more on. -

This thread had an active group of parents who were very chatty, hence the many pages of discussion, mostly unrelated to the school.
Go to the official school websites to check whether there is news on academic results. To know the culture, go check out the school during its dismissal hours to see the behaviour of children n talk to existing parents. -

as for homework, my neighbour told me her kids have loads of homework (they are in bukit timah primary). -
Yes agree with Jennifer. My dd is in P3 this year and her homework load is manageable. There can be days when she has more work for more than one subject but still ok, and other days none. I think besides the principal, the teachers are also important. Some of the teachers have been teaching there for a long time and they are very experienced teachers.

I also share Janet’s view that it is unlikely pei hwa’s standard will drop drastically. Let’s be positive and see how the new P is like when she comes in.

Thanks … it’s assuring to hear all yr positive sharing… hope there will be positive changes. I have observed that Pei hwa academic ranking used to be very strong previously until early 2010-12. Thereafter standard kinda drop like those Olympia math achievements pslE results etc.
