By not sharing their stats freely, more people will need to turn up at the open house to get the info. It will look very popular and boost potential applicants' confidence? :siam:

Ohh...I see...so confusing for 'outsiders' such as mindays and myself...

        😆 :rotflmao:
I could find it, it was not confusing for me. In fact, it is right under the \"Staff\" tab. It is your inability to find the necessary information and came with a misleading conclusion that it is not there. Really blur as your username?

Usually schools will not disclose these sensitive information easily unless they are thick skin enough to use it for publicity. Erm perhaps u might want to write in or just meet the relevant SHs during their open house coming Jan?

But from what I heard their results are quite competitive so should't be a big issue bah IMO.

What do you mean by thick skin enough?
I see them as a way to applaud students and staff for their effort and at the same time provide information for the public to make better decision.

Anyway, schools cannot publish the full details so they will give results such as average UAP or % of 3 H2 or at least compare this year's performance to the previous year's. These are better than not giving any information as if the sch is not confident of revealing it's results.

I hope the SHs will disclose to me such information at open house. The leaders seem to be very secretive about them. I think they should share the news and not treat them as publicity.

If you do not use the information as publicity but simply to inform and applaud, you shouldn't feel guilty of harbouring ulterior motive when you share or think negatively when other jcs share theirs. Do you agree?

By not sharing results does not mean it is secretive or not confident of sharing it's results. In fact, not all JCs share their results publicly. For example, ACJC and TJC. In fact, not many JCs share their detailed results. Why so? That's because MOE does not want parents to make use of results as the most important indicator to gauge a school's standard. MOE wants school to develop students HOLISTICALLY and not just ACADEMICALLY. You may be a book-smart student, but you may have no practical skills or character. What is the use then? Is it even purposeful?

In fact, NYJC fared well in the A Levels. For the recent 2015 A Levels:
          Average UAP: 81
          %Distinction for H2 Math: 65%
          %Distinction for H2 Chemistry: 58.5%
          %Distinction for H2 Physics: 45%
          %Distinction for H2 Art: 100%

I remember vividly that TJC shared its 2015 A levels performance in its website, providing information on its % of 3H2, 4H2 etc shortly after the release of results. ACJC also posted information such as % of improvement on several subjects as compared to the previous year. NYJC had none.

Where did you get the above statistics of NYJC? They aren't officially published or even announced to the JC1 which I am aware so how reliable are they if the JC didn't want to commit itself. I understand the intention of MOE directive but parents need 'performance statistics' to decide upon their choices. Are having a caring principal, word of mouth, conducive environment. speculative figures etc sufficient? What will happen next year when the principal leaves?

mindays, your previous information about nyjc getting 65% distinctions for Project Work is not applicable now. Reliable sources have it that only 50-55% of pupils had gotten distinctions for 2015. But again, it wasn't officially announced and hence its reliability.

You understand the frustration of parents when every statistic needs to be dug from teachers?

              Ohmmm...historical figures are misleading...

Nyjc released their jc1 promotion result today as told by friend. PW oral starts tomorrow and I wonder why they released the news today. Friend's DS' class has one retainee. Is the jc trying to boost the morale of the majority who passed the promotion at the expense of those who failed? How does nyjc expect its retainees to put aside the bad news and brave the very important exam tomorrow or on the next couple of days? 🤷

Hope friend's DS' info is wrong. Nyjc can't be this cruel.

                  I’m back.

I had disappeared as I wanted to see how my gal is coping in NYJC before sharing in this thread.
Briefly, NYJC teachers have been very helpful, my gal is not doing well in 1 H2 subject and her NY tutor took the effort to give her 1-1 coaching. Other jcs tutors may also do that but we are talking abt NY here.
For more sharing, interested parents can drop me a PM as "those keen NYJC parents will come in to criticize my sharing."

Next issue, we have been too nice to those non-interested NYJC parents. Other than Mindays, hey you non-interested NYJC "parents or students" got nothing better to do in yr daily lives but just keeping appearing here for what…
Regard the new P from Manjusri Sec. Whats wrong with Manjusri Sec ah? You parents (yes you know who you are), please don’t pretend to be concerned abt NYJC fate under the new P. You parents only want to spread fear that under new P, NYJC will fall.
When AJC, SAJC, TJC,JJC changed new P early this year, why none of you appear to show concern?
Oh just because NYJC new P is from Manjusri Sec is it. What kind of parents are you telling your kids that neighbourhood Sec P is not good enough or better be worried. Don’t discriminate against such school, ok. Dont pretend to show concern.
Under the new P, why would things be different, fools? You mean like all hell breaks loose kind?
The current efficient VPs are still around to support the new P. Give up on those parents( if they are even parents).
Next, 1 fool said NYJC teachers will relax or change under the new P. Don’t undermine NYJC teachers and shows respect, ok fool. What right you have to put such uncall words abt NYJC teachers.
FYI, NYJC teachers have already planned the academic programmes for next year JC2 level. My gal received the programme schedules for certain subjects.

I pity your children having such "parents" who kaypo abt NYJC yet not keen in NYJC. These people lives only revolve spreading bad news abt NYJC. Pathetic.
1 of them (yes you )said with the new P, no more keen in NYJC. So be it, then don’t opt for NYJC. Nobody begs you to choose NY. Get Lost!
Another fool parent said NYJC doesn’t divulge its results. I don’t mind that. I can get the results from the NY teachers. If you think too troublesome to ask, that’s your own problem.
NYJC doesn’t show its results in web site but it has been producing commendable A level results like UAP of 81 points in this year A level exam. I was in NYJC hall when this year A level was released.
Other than results which is impt, there are students/parents who choose a JC based on other factors.
NYJC has been awarded the BEST 5 Practises Awards and other Awards by MOE recently (refer to school web site).
So to those fools, get out of this Forum!
People have eyes to see and decide for themselves abt NYJC. Dont come and stir shit.
I will not reply to those fools’ replies. I’m sure they will appear. Dont want to waste my time.

NYJC students have been going back to school for the past weeks to rehearse OP with NY tutors.
You heard friend say....ya sure. Only fools belief you.

I checked with my friend's DS and he confirmed that his class was told about their promotion results today. You should check with your DC's form teacher before hurling abuses here.
