sorry i meant taking bio or physics along with chem and maths but taking something like KI or History as a contrasting subject (not econs)njcstudent123:
Hello, does anybody know how people with weird combinations are put into classes? for example, are there a lot of people who take B/PCM but not take economics? Are people who take B/PCM but not econs in the same class?
BCPM has no contrasting subject so is not a viable combi

Hello! I can only answer you based on the IP classes, as I'm not too sure how the JAE students are sorted.
For the current batch of IP SH2s, there are three PCME classes, two BCME classes, one arts class (ie taking two or more arts subjects), and the last two are the ones with hybrid combinations (PCML, BCMELL, PCMA etc). I'm hazarding a guess that this is similar for the JAE students, but their class ratio should be twice of the IP. Hope this helps!

Hi, The forum is abuzz with Secondary school book discussions! Sharing experience...
2016 JH1 booklist
Maths: New Syllabus Maths 1 (Textbook, E-Textbook, Workbook). Shinglee.
New Syllabus Maths 2 (Textbook, E-Textbook, Workbook). Shinglee.
& HMT only. (The bookstore - Popular - claims it is cheaper to buy from them on campus. E-Textbook is VERY frequently used, don't lose the password in case you need to re-install the application.)
The other subjects (Language Arts, Governance & Society, Thinking, Geography, History) are painstakingly authored by the teachers themselves & bound into lovely booklets. Here I extract from the Semester 1 Integrated Science (teacher-authored) content page (Physics & Chemistry; Biology comes into the picture in Semester 2):
The Nature of Science
Physical Quantities, Units & Measurement
Thermometry
Mass, Weight & Density
Particulate Nature of Matter
Transfer of Thermal Energy
Elements, Compounds & Mixtures
Purity & Separation Techniques
Air
Water
Light
Plant Nutrition
Points to ponder
Are both Maths textbooks used simultaneously? - Yes.
Any student can sign up for Maths Olympiad training, FOC.
Are there students who cannot meet the promotion criteria? - Yes.
Are these students retained? - On a case by case basis, yes, some of those do get retained, majority do not.
Does the school support weaker students? - Yes, as posted before, individual teachers do use their private break to tutor the few students who need help. When Consolidation starts on a campus wide basis, tutoring these weaker students becomes more structured. There is even Consolidation during year-end holidays! -
Dear Parents of NJC students,
Seeking your help in getting answers regarding NJC DSA.
My DD is currently in P5 and will be appearing for NJC DSA in 2017. We are trying only for NJC.
1. What is the format of maths test for the DSA. Is it based on Maths Olympiad type questions or is the format based on GAT/HAST.
2. Comprehension test contains long passages with 5 to 10 questions of short passages with true or false type questions.
Please let me know. Just trying to use P5 vacation time for the prep.

for the students taking P or B with CM and an arts subject that isnt econs do they all end up in the same class (regardless of P or B)? How are the last 2 'hybrid' classes split?

Well, as for the specifics, I'm not very sure because I'm not close to the people in those classes, so I really can't offer you much detail! But I do know of people taking ELL and L in 07, and people who take Art (and maybe Music? I'm not too sure.) in 08. Hahaha i hope this helped in some way! -
Hi,
My P6 DS is interested in attending NJC but is concerned about the gender ratio. Would like to ask the parents of boys / boys at NJC how they feel about having many more girls than boys in the class.
Also, is the curriculum very rigorous with many projects? -
