Anyone can recommend what are the "must" go places for kids in Tokyo? Only have 4days in Tokyo where I already plan to go 5 lakes and nissen factory. Another 3 days will be staying at Sheraton bay. Anything to venture there as well?
Thanks for sharing. -

The usual is disneyland and disneysea. And depending on age of your kids, you can also include Fuji Q highland if you are going to Kawaguchiko. Another possibility is Sagamiko for the largest winter illumination in the Kanto region. You can go there from Kawaguchiko on the way back to Tokyo. But to include Fuji Q highland and Sagamiko to your Kawaguchiko trip will probably require you to stay a night at Kawaguchiko.Anyone can recommend what are the \"must\" go places for kids in Tokyo? Alternatively, Since you are also going to Yokohama, you can also go to Sagamiko after Yokohama and stay the night near Hachioji/Takao. Then next morning proceed to Kawaguchiko. -
Hi,
1) Odawa - Palette Town.
2) Asakusa - skytree tower and sumida aquarium. We took a cruise from Hinode pier and the subway back.
We only managed to go to the Tower though.
3) kamakura - lovely quaint town. Visited the bamboo forest. And the giant buddha. Can do some hiking. Was recommended to go for the day and night wonder at Enoshima aquarium but did not have the time. You will need a day trip for this.
There is the usual legoland etc ⦠Some lovely parks to have a picnic. Weather only turned nippy at night the past few days.
You can google the places mentioned. So far my kids have enjoyed themselves. -

Thanks dnls_mum for sharing, I have already booked my hotel in Tokyo so not possible to stay 1 night at Kawaguchiko. My kids are 11/7yrs old. Hoping to find something for my boy and gal.

Also any \"must go\" temple/shrine in Tokyo as well? -
junemum72:
The usual temple/shrine is asakusa/sensoji and Meiji shrine. Not exactly interesting or fun activities for kids per se, but if you want temples and shrines in Tokyo, then they are the usual. You can combine Tokyo skytree with Asakusa/sensoji, and harajuku with Meiji shrine.

If your accommodations are fixed, and if you still want to go to sagamiko, you can still go after your day in Yokohama before going back to Tokyo. Just that going to kawaguchiko again on another day will mean doubling back on the train. -

Read last week at ST that tsukiji fish market is not moving to the new site early November. Anyone has any update? I hope to still be able to visit the old site at end of the year.
Hello Song22,
How are you? Long time din chit chat. Yes, you still can make it.
Tsukiji fish market will only move in Feb 2017. Do avoid going on Sundays as the market is closed. I heard some Weds are affected too. My family is flying over in 2 weeks time and this is our 1st time trying out Airbnb in Shibuya. -
Hi, I need help! Going to Tokyo again for 7days during CNY but this time with my 18-yr old dd who has not been there before. I'm planning to spend half the time in Tokoy & the other half outside of tokyo to a nice countryside with nature & culture preferably staying in a ryokan for 1 or 2 nights. Can I know where would you choose to go if you have 2or3 days out of Tokyo. I'm actually thinking of Kyoto but are there comparable towns nearer to Tokyo? This last minute trip is giving me stress as I need to quickly make bookings in case they are all booked out! TIA! :faint:

Hakone might be a good idea, or the Fuji Five Lakes area, if you only have 2-3 days. These places are accessible by train from Tokyo in a few hours.

Thanks lexis! Your reply made me relook at hakone again. Instead of spending on bullet train to kyoto, I may as well splurge on a good ryoken. Anyone stayed at hakone-ginyu before or have any good ryoken to recommend in this area? Would prefer one which has a private onsen in the room & easy access to public transport, thanks!
