Will kids be penalized if they did the PSLE Math Paper 2 questions mostly in pencil?

DD did her Math paper mostly in pencil and she is now worrying that she might be penalized.

Dont worry, your daughter will not be penalised by writing in pencil for PSLE Maths Paper 2.

Over the years, I have seen some of my students who still prefer to use pencils for word problems.

Sorry, first time doing this. What can we expect on 24 Nov?
Do all students just report to school by 11am?

We received an email from school on fri to report to school at 11am this thurs. That's all nothing else was said in the email.

You can check with the school or form teacher abt the arrangement for thurs.

Our dd has been asked to report to her class on the 24th and was told that the form teacher will hand out their mark sheets.


Her first question (to me) was, "Will my teacher know my marks?"
I told her I had no idea.

So if anyone knows, please clarify - is the mark sheet sealed or does the teacher know?
Do the girls ask among themselves as each one gets her mark sheet?
Are they supposed to be quiet? Are there any emotional scenes in the class?

The results come in sealed perforated envelopes (like your password from bank type). The kids will have to tear open themselves to see their own results. However, having said that, I am sure the school will have a copy of all students’ results and the teachers will know.

And yes, there will be emotional moments - happiness for those who felt they have done well and sad for those who felt they have not performed up to expectations. For some, it is sharing joy with classmates and teachers, whilst for others, there may be scrambling to talk to teachers or principal about the results and which schools to choose. It is also a ‘last’ chance of gathering for the class as they may end up in different schools soon. Just be prepared to stay around longer for kids to have time to catch up with classmates and teachers.

I think your dd will receive her personal result slip which the teacher has no access to. But the mark sheet containing the scores of all students will alr be ready a few hours before 11am. So school leaders, hods and maybe form teachers shd have some knowledge alr.

on the last day of school, the principal told the girls she will see them again next thur 24/11. she also added what matters is the hard work put in, not the As and A*s.


just checked with son. he told me the results are given to the students sealed…like the way passwords are sent out…tear off along the corners. but the teachers know the results.

Previously, the child will receive 2 documents on PSLE result release day. They are (1) PSLE Result Slip and (2) S1 Option Form. The result slip (a single A4 sheet) is not sealed, it contains information such as the grade achieved for each of the subjects taken at PSLE and the t-score achieved. On the other hand, the S1 Option Form is sealed because it contains the password for online S1 submission. The S1 Option Form also contains information specific to the child such as eligibility to EESIS, SAP bonus point, Higher MT, Third Language.

Yes...schools will know the results...they may present slides on the post analysis of the how well the school perform and also congratulate those who did exceptionally well.

It looks like if your child takes :

HMTL - gets 2 extra points for JC entry
3rd Language - gets 2 extra points for JC entry

So if the child takes both HMTL and 3rd language he gets 4 extra for JC entry?

Anybody knows if MEP or AEP also get 2 extra points?

Is there a limit to the elective the child is allowed? e.g. if already taking 3rd language , is the child allowed AEP or MEP ?

Max deduction is 4 points. The 3rd option, besides HMTL and Higher Malay, is getting A2 and above for CCA/VIA activities. Most people will use the HMTL and CCA options for 'O' Levels.
