I’m also planning to apply to cedar.
Reg the 3rd language French/German etc do they teach within the school?

FYI There are third language lessons at bishan. Cedar also has one-way school buses.

School bus transport available only to certain parts of Singapore only. Not to all parts of Sg.

You need to contact the school bus operator, inquire if go your area to fetch your daughter to Cedar.

They fetch one way in the morning only, going to school.

As for foreign 3rd language like Japanese, French, German -
your girl have to travel to MOELC (Bishan) branch, to learn. Cedar does not teach foreign languages to students, conducted inside her school premises.

Yes indeed most schools (if not all?) have their 3rd language lessons outside their campus.

My dd told me most of her Japanese classmates are from DHS, some others are from schools mainly in the east side…

Secondary schools do not conduct foreign languages, inside their school compound / premises.


For Cedar Students, they need to travel to MOELC (Bishan) branch.
But for students from other Secondary schools, they may goto MOELC (Newton) branch, instead.

Spanish is taught only at Newton branch, not Bishan.

But for Japanese, French, German :
Cedar girls can go Bishan branch. Over at Bishan, Cedar girls can meet other students coming from other schools, also studying foreign language over there.
E.g.
They may meet RGS students, CHIJ St Nicholas students, etc. also at Bishan

How many ip and o level classes are the in cedar in sec 1?

Someone may hv ask this before but will the sch place more attention to ip students rather than rhise in o?

Keen to put my DD in cedar but dunno her chances high or not

So far, for Cedar girls who study 3rd language at MOELC (Bishan), they all go on their own.

For next year 2017 Sec 1 batch, see whether how big is the group going there, to learn foreign language ?

If the group is big, maybe can approach Cedar school, see if can help to get a shuttle bus, fetch these girls to Bishan one way, because distance to Bishan is quite far, plus carry heavy school bag, lap top

Hi, You can rest assured that school treat both track's student equally.
my DD is in O level and she is doing well and happy.
