      Hi mummies,

Which 3rd language is better? French, Japanese, German or Spanish?
Is it too heavy to take 3rd language?
It depends on your child's forte. If he/she's good in languages, then I say go for it! 🙂 If he/she's not performing that well (in languages), you may want to discuss with him/her and people like his/her tutors. Personally, my child scored in the 260 range but did not opt for third language. It depends on every child'S strength and weaknesses. Make sure that your child can cope before opting for third language! 🙂

Does anyone know of specific evidence (from their own school’s reporting of results) that the average PSLE scores went up from 2015 to 2016? When we attended our son’s school’s PSLE results session yesterday, no information was shared at all…Very difficult to have a sense of how to select secondary schools without this information…Thanks!

I'm in need of guidance of what secondary school to choose in The Central and west zone area for COP 223-228. Key considerations : well disciplined environment and dedicated Teachers. My Son was very disappointed with his result. As parents, both my husband and I are very hurt to see our son's dejection over his aggregate. We saw a change in attitude and maturity this year, so we would really want to help him choose a school that can give him a good start into secondary school. He is mild and that's why we needed a conducive environment for him.

          :?:

Pls do not rush into opting for 3rd Lang. It's an extra subject on top of the 8 other subjects n CCA.

Lessons are outside circulum time just like CCA so you have to juggle yr time n it's not easy.
Most of them usually give up after 1st or 2nd year unless you have a very strong interest in the language.

My DD qualified but she never opt for it.

Congrats to all parents and their kids results.

Was running through all the chats at this thread and sorry to hijack the thread with some amateur qns. I am a 1st time mum with kids gg to P1 in times to come. Would like to know how the PSLE results system work?

What is EESIS, COP and why is there a +2 or +3 after the score ?

              Thank much for the sharing.

Wow you really KS...LOL. No point knowing since by then your kids will be under a new PSLE system, no longer the T Score thingy. The +2, +3 is basically for the Higher Mother Tongue, offered to only top students. Unlike normal subject, HMT is graded Distinction (3 points), Merit (2 points) and Pass (1 point), which can be added to T score, but is only useful when applying to a SAP school such as HCI, Dunman High, NCHS, etc. COP or cut-of-point is what a sec school cut off for students acceptance and usually out after each year's posting is completed. By 2021, this will be irrelevant.

EESIS is a scholarship for top 2-3% PSLE scorers in Independent School I believe.

Learning 3rd language basically depends on your child's interest. Also consider the MOELC for various language, i.e. German is at Bishan, is your child able to return home from Bishan on his/her own if the parents are not able to fetch them? Some students tried for a year and dropped it in Sec 2, some tried for 2 terms. If your child is keen to try, why not? Your child may want to use some language app to see which language appeal to him/her. 3rd language can be a joy for some but a burden for others, depending on your child's learning attitude. Wish all who consider 3rd Lang all the best. You never try, you never know. 😄

Some students will be asked to drop 3rd Lang at Sec 3 by the school because the workload will be too much for them to handle. My DD is at NYGH.
