        Hi Blue Dolphine,

Glad that I can help šŸ™‚

Your ds might want to opt for 3rd Lang now and apply for MEP after Reporting Day. Once accepted, he can then decide which one he prefers. Withdrawal from 3rd Lang can be done.

Taking an elective might come in handy as it can replace one of the Humanities subjects towards GPA Computation.

Btw, entry into the MEP at Year 3 is still possible but will be on a case-by-case basis.

If ur DS does not take 3rd Lang in sec 1-4, he will not be allowed to attempt 3rd Lang at A levels in JC.

However, if he doesn't take MEP in sec1, he can still opt for Music at A levels H2 level when he is in JC1.
Thanks very much for your advice!

May I know if Japanese as a 3rd language is taken in the school campus or at MOE Language Centre at Bishan? Thanks.

                Dear parents/ students,

My DS will be joining RI Year 1 next year.

May I know what is typically covered during the Year 1 Reporting Day in Dec? Any important talks?

Any advice what we should do if my DS cannot report on that day? e.g., purchase of school uniforms? textbooks, …

We will be going overseas and may not make it on time to come back by the Reporting Day (22 Dec). Would really appreciate your advice so that we can do the necessary preparation before we depart, especially getting ready the things necessary for Year 1 before school reopens next year.

                :thankyou:

                        Hi,

On Reporting Day itself, there will be a brief welcome talk for parents in the LT while the boys are taken care of by the Seniors. A more detailed briefing (Level Briefing) held in January will provide more information on the curriculum and expectations for the academic year. Form/ Co-form teachers will also be there to meet parents. Parents are strongly recommended to attend this briefing.

While you may not miss much on Reporting Day, it's helpful if you can get hold of the Welcome Letter and other documents (which I shall term it as the \"Welcome Kit\") as they contain important Information on school starting time & first Day of School and other documents. There are also forms to be completed and submitted when school starts. The first week is likely to be Orientation Programme for the boys, which includes a 3D2N camp in school. List of items required for the camp can be found in the Welcome Kit. Try calling GO regarding collection of the Welcome Kit or get someone to pick up a set for you.

For school uniforms, you can get them from the Popular Bookstore at RI Campus or Bibi & Baba anytime. Every boy will be presented with a tie and school badge during the Junior Rafflesian Investiture Ceremony (JRIC), so it's not necessary to get ties.

The booklist is only available on Reporting Day itself. However, there are ways to avoid the long queues on Reporting Day : -

-Try calling the Popular Bookstore @RI Campus. Last year, they allowed pre-orders for collection on the Reporting Day itself.

-Get the miscellaneous items (files, writing pad etc) from Popular Bookstore @RI Campus first. Textbooks (except for Literature, different version) can be purchased from most Popular Bookstores.

                        -Get them after Reporting Day

*Do note that the Popular Bookstore@RI campus closes at 3pm.
*The boys are allowed to wear the black Team Raffles shirt every friday. Do consider gettting one. PE T-shirts and shorts are also available at the Popular Bookstore @RI campus.
