      Hi,

My son is going to K1 next year, will it be too early to start him on an enrichment class?

If he should start now, which center would you recommend? Would it be more suitable to hire a tutor instead?

      Thanks in advance!
Can he read and write well enough for his age? If he can, then don't need to go for enrichment..I presume you are asking for English? Sometimes, having individual attention and coaching from parents is the best..but if not, can try some of the schools like I Can Read for enrichment but their effectiveness I am not too sure as I have not personally tried them. Some people say it works some say it depends on the teacher.

I have personally heard from friends of this enrichment for reading and writing that is good- Seeds D Learning for preschool kids, maybe can check them out.

My son's Eng language and writing is below expectation base on his school review, but he is a preemie and perviously slow in body development for 4.5 months.

We cant coach him as we are not up to the standard, I do not want him to pick up the lousy Eng from us.

We hope to find a suitable center to give him e correct Eng foundation. It will be so hard to study in SG if Eng is not good. 😓

😄 i was thinking of that too..my K1 dd2 been writing funny English words to me coz of weak phonics I believe plus her not so accurate pronounciation..and everytime I see this, I will think of ctr but then own part havent done yet.. keep telling myself got to spend more time with her on reading but difficult to achieve that.

I have been reading with my son since small, but I feel that my Eng standard won't be able to support much longer.

U have any ctr in mind?

I checked one Centre before (can’t remember the name now) but a bit far for us …think only at the West for the preschool class…coolit mentioned Seeds, maybe can try…I m thinking maybe a good idea to give it a try for a term…let’s see maybe next year.

From what I heard of Seeds, they will slow down for your child if they struggle but also put them on a faster pace once they catch up…worth checking it out…

Someone recently recommended Montessori For Children at Newton, she said they are true blue montessorist, not too sure what it means and her child picked up reading and writing quite fast.

                        No prob! chingny and MrsKiasu:)

MrsKiasu, are you referring to Montessori for Children being a preschool? Yes they are…hmm if enrichment, what I hear is good is Seeds. But some parents - very ks ones, send their kids for normal kindy and montessori kindy also in the afternoon session. Haha my friend is one of them, Montessori for Children has afternoon session quite late so its possible. But dont go that route if possible unless your child can tahan the intensity…
