Perhaps you can clarify with Mdm Heng whether is there any quota, for Affliation NYPS girls to go back to NYGH (IP) Sec 1 intake, if 250 is not guaranteed, or what other extra qualifying criteria are needed ?I have extract a post dated PSLE 2014. Any of your NYPS DD with score (247+3, 248+2 or 249+1) managed to get in to NYGH. ??
was told by Mdm Heng (NYPS ex-principal) that COP 250 is not guaranteed a place. Please help to confirm? Cos parents face the same situation would be worried about the outcome.
Thank you so much!! -

Dont think Mdm Heng will tell you whether is guarantee or not with COP 250. This could be a standard answer for all principal quoted the same with MOE. One of the way to find out from parents that his/her DD has gotten in to NYGH with this score..

I knew of NYPS girls who got into NYGH with scores of 247+3, and 248+2 when they put NYGH as first choice in 2014. That year, Mdm Heng said as long as 250, can get in. Not sure if things have changed in 2015 or will change this year. If she specifically said not guaranteed this year, then things may change this year. Best to ask her why is it not guaranteed. Do note that in 2013 and 2014, top 10% was around 247-248, but in 2015 and likely in 2016, top 10% is around 252. Not sure if that is one of the reasons?

In Singapore, there's a saying: \"policeman last time wear shorts\" (although they are back to wearing shorts apparently for some neighborhood patrol).

What happen in the past isn't a guaranteed for what's going to happen now or in the future. Sometimes, the standard answer is the right answer. 250 is the COP but, as per MOE guideline, NYGH is free to apply extra requirements for their affiliated school as they see fit. Whether these extra requirements are in place in the past, parents would probably not know if no one ask. So, it's best to ask the school for assurances rather than attempting an unscientific survey online. -
It’s too late to worry about this as selection deadline is over.
Let me share more…
During the NYGH open house held during June this year, during QnA there were many questions from parents abt the DSA (direct school admission).
And the Principal did say that half of the school sec one vacancies are allocated for DSA, however the P said not all the allocated vacancies will be taken up because a student may receive multiple offers from more than one school for DSA, if the student is successful in their applications for DSA to more than one school.
Generally girls’ results are better than boys, and for this year I felt the cohort results seems to be better than last year. I would expect the COP to move up. -
COP 250 is not a guarantee.
Refer to sis.moe.gov.sg
2014 Sec 1 the lower end is more than 250. -

Think you are talking about different thing. Conversation above refers to affiliated students where the lowest end is indeed 250.COP 250 is not a guarantee.
Refer to sis.moe.gov.sg
2014 Sec 1 the lower end is more than 250.

No, the lower end for affiliated students was 251 for 2014 Sec One into NYGH.

just checked
when click onto \"sis.moe.gov.sg\" for SCGS -
for last year 2015 PSLE batch (ie. 2016 Sec 1 intake, born 2003),
the COP (O level) for Affliated SCGS primary school girls was 221, not 220.
that means those affliated SCGS primary girls, with 220 :
cannot go back to SCGS Secondary (O level), got to go other school ?
so, 220 for affliated students, also not guaranteed ?
Another similar case
The same also apply to CHIJ St Nicholas. (SNGS)
In that PSLE 2014 batch (i.e. 2015 Sec 1 intake, born 2002), the COP was 231, not 230.
That means for that Affliated year batch of SNGS students :
if scored (227 + 3), or (228 + 2), or scored (229 + 1), although still add up to 230 because Is a SAP school, also cannot go back for Affliated O level ?

I know personally of one girl with 247+3 and another girl with 248+2 for their 2014 PSLE results, who got into NYGH as their #1 choice. Now they are happily studying in NYGH waiting to start Sec 3 next year. If you check the website, the cutoff for affilifiated students for Sec 1 2015 was 250, also for Sec 1 2013 and Sec 1 2016. But for some reasons the Sec 1 2014 the cutoff was 251.No, the lower end for affiliated students was 251 for 2014 Sec One into NYGH.
