All subjects should be on equal weightage. It is only fair. Though it is hard to measure how difficult Maths is compared to Chinese or Maths to Science.

Those parents who argue that their children were unable to go the top schools because of their MT, perhaps their children are not good enough to be in a top school in the first place!

to be very objective about it : if your kids cannot master all the subjects compared to other kids who can, obviously you are just not the best compared with those who can. PSLE is a placement exams, so some will be raked behind others and not everyone can be ranked top at the same time.

sounds like sore losers to me

I shared this perspective with my P2 about the lowering of emphasis on MT in PSLE. Her first question to me was, \"Mummy, you mean it is no longer good to be an all-rounder?\"

I don't know how to reply her...

I agree. I think our education system still emphasize on all-rounder.

no way to reduce weightage of MT

                  1. Statistics of 3000+ students may be a small sample still in the eyes of the govt.

                  2. I am really surprised our Chinese standard here can allow these people to do University in China where I believe all subjects will be read in Chinese?? :!: Impressive!

That is a good question Dr Ng can help to address. 😉
