Track is pretty hard to get in. This CCA is Cedar's niche and it is pretty prestigious to be in Track. You will be ranked when u go for the trials. The highest ranked will get in. But they are scoutg for talent throughout the yr. A fren of my dd was in X ball then she did v well during sports day and cross country and got invited to join track. The coaches are v results driven here. So u will hv to think bout maintain yr form throughout 3.25 yrs. One of the trackers even has a personal coach. There are some who doesnt train much and yet still top the nation in timings.Hi
Reg the CCA, it was written there shall be audition for some CCa. Any idea how it will be like for the English LDDS and Track and field ?
Planning to apply for my girl
English LDDS is pretty easy to get in. I dont think this CCA has a trial. -

You cant transfer to ip after you enter Cedar either. The only way is thru yr results at the end of sec2, You dont hv to meet cutoff if you apply for sec 3 ip.MomOfOne:
Hmmm if its appeal to transfer program, fr o to ip?
Same same. Have to meet COP of IP. -

The various classes take turns. One class will do Bio in term 1, another does Chem in term 1. The sch lab cant accommodate the entire lvl doing lab wk for 1 subj.Hi
Anyone any idea for science for sec 1, which is taught first - chemistry, physics or biology?
Thanks -

Need advise. DD is going to IP year 1 next year. Not sure when is Cedar's exam period. Any clash (with exam or project work) if we go overseas during the 1 week March sch holiday?
My daughter spent her Mar, Jun and Sept holidays on projects, cca, mtgs and hw (loads of it). She uses the Mar hol to prep for exam in end Apr, Jun hol to cover all the proj and Sept hol to prep for exams in end Sept and early Oct. Accordg to her, take a hol in MarJunSept is just too risky for her gpa, ldrship and sports cca commitment. -
Btw, for sports cca, they train throughout the year. I do kn my dd’s fren who is in npcc going bc to sch during the dec hol for traing as well.

Someone asked an interesting qn. What happens if the child wants to switch from IP to O lvl if the child is doin well in IP? As far as I kn, it is not allowed. The school wants to minimise disruption in curriculum and adjustments issues. In this case, you are ‘bound’ to complete the 6yr course. Alternatively you can purposely do badly, fail just one subj in Sec 2 and you are automatically transferred : ) But any movement can only be done at the end of Sec2. I kn of a girl who had adjustment issue. She failed several subjs in sec1 IP. She was not transferred to o lvl track till end of Sec 2

IP and O lvl in Cedar are different only in curriculum. For IP the prog prep for A lvl. For O lvl, the prep is for O lvl. The reason for transfers at the end of sec 2 is the ‘actual’ o lvl prep req 2 yrs, sec 3 and 4.
I wld like to emphasise both programmes are equal in prestige for Cedar. The O lvl program in Cedar is equal in rigour to the IP prog. You will see that the average psle scores for students on these 2 prog are almost the same too! It doesn’t mean if you cant cope in IP, you can do well on their O lvl prog. -
I may abit blunt here. If you cant cope in the ip1-4, it will be EXTREMELY difficult to handle the A lvl prog in VJC. I hvnt attended the last PTM. If I am not wrong, almost all Cedarians score >gpa 3.2 at yr 4 which is the min criteria for 4H2. The Victorians are a different story : ) Generally Cedarians do very well in VJ.
