I talked to the student council & know that there is one canteen at the high sch section,one cafe at the swimming pool(maybe food prices ex?) & one canteen at the JC section.He told me the canteen prices are quite reasonable.There are 2 菜饭摊 at the high sch canteen & priced between $2- $2.50 (for 3 or 4 dishes-can't really rmbr).It's near the bookshop & there are about 10 stalls inclusive of drinks stalls ..
I went to exchange DS uniform & checked out the tuckshop..

Thanks. I find HCI web really lacks in a lot of info parents care for or important for parents, most are really useless info to parents. Things like uniforms, school timings (what time does class ends for the day) etc are not available. Really headache.

Can anyone let me know what time does school ends and if students need to have lunch in school? How many meals required? What time is the recess in morning? Lunch time? Thanks!

Haha don’t fret. Secondary school is truly a different ballgame for both parents and child - a lot of adapting to do. The boys will get used to Managing their own time and schedules, although it seems like it’s impossible at this stage. Trust the school.


There’s no fixed time for recess daily - can be from 9 am to 1030 am, half hour for recess. Lunch is 130-2 plus (slightly longer than recess) if you have lessons in the afternoon or cca. If no afternoon lessons or cca, school ends at 130 pm.

Forgot to add - drop off point for high school is via gate 3 (just before Namly Ave) or gate 4 (enter by Namly avenue). From gate 3, can drop them along the drive way and exit at gate 2, or Turn Right\" after entering gate 3, then left, and drop them at the sheltered drop off point near the open air carpark. Exit via gate 5 (near boarding school) to namly Ave.


If you enter at gate 4, you can drop them along the road leading to HCIS. You'll also have to exit by gate 5, which will lead you to namly avenue.

Your Son may be able to tell you which he prefers after a couple of weeks as one drop off point may be nearer to his classroom than the other.

Hard copy of 2016 Year Book costs $5 and Electronic year book is free.
You can go to HCI High School website, ISP ( Intelligent School Portal ) to download a copy.
Your son should know how to get into ISP.

My Ds is also taking 3rd language but posted to Bishan branch. The bus transport form was put inside the Hwa Chong file given out during sec 1 registration. And deadline to submit the form to hci admin office (High school) is Jan 6. Since you did not receive, you may want to call the office to get a form. By the way, the transport fee is $75 annually.

$75 annually? Is that a typo? Else it is really very cheap.
