My DS will join RI secondary one next year. For CCA he prefers water polo. Can anyone share how to apply for it? Anything need to be prepared now? thanks
Just look out for the trial date and attend the trial on the day itself. It will be out on the Stamford portal.
Bring along swimming trunks too. -

Hi Blue Dolphine,Hi, we received the year 1 orientation guide this morning. Saw that there is a Galileo Programme in the activity list. Can someone enlighten what is this programme about? It sounds like a science programme to me. Is it only for a specific group of students talented in science or for anyone who is interested in science.
Thank you!
Galileo Programme is an enrichment programme that provides opportunity for exceptionally able Year 1 and 2 students who are passionate about Science, to extend their learning beyond the RP . The application is open to all students who have obtained an A* grade in PSLE Science. Watch out for more details on the Stamford portal.

May I ask about the difference between 01 and 02 scouts? The difference in activities, the culture etc.
My ds can only remember vaguely that 02 Scouts is the original Scouts UG, 01 Scouts was created as a result of oversubscription of applicants. You can find out more info on the two groups during the CCA Trail for students and parents. -

Thanks for sharing so much, ngl2010. By the looks of it, it certainly requires strong commitment to volunteer as a PSL. In time to come, I hope mine can follow your ds' footsteps and be motivated enough to do something back for the sch.
Welcome to RI!iRabbit:
We saw many strapping young lads, pristine-in-white during sch reporting day; your boys must be among them! :boogie:
Yes. DS was at the reporting day and will be at the orientation camp too. He said it is time to give back to school although it requires a lot of discipline to be PSL. During the meetings (there were many meetings to prepare the PSLs), they checked the shoes (must be reasonably white), hair (must be short) and shirt (must be tucked in). Late comers are kicked out from the meetings. They will also get feedback from teachers. One bad comment from teacher(s) will get the PSL kicked out from becoming PSL
So, you only saw all the seriously dedicated ones during school reporting day!
Pssst.... even for the next week's Year 1 orientation camp, the PSLs have 83 pages of guidelines to read! These boys are really serious!iRabbit:
DS said got the 4th best thing in RI. Soft drink! :rotflmao: DS's primary school canteen doesn't sell soft drink so he was so happy to see that RI canteen sells soft drink. The first 3 things my labbit told me was - sch got free wifi, can use phone during recess, and recess is 40 min! So can see that things got off to a good start as far as junior is concerned.

Welcome to RI!Hello everyone,
My son will be joining RI. For the orientation camp, do the boys sleep in the auditorium? Is the air-con turned on?
The boys will be sleeping in the Hall. Sorry, DS doesn't know whether the air-con will be turned-on or not. He said from the few times he slept in the Hall during various camps, sometimes the air-con is turned on and sometimes the air-con is not turned on. -
Am helping to source for more students to pick up from tampines/punggol to RI in the morning. Can pm me if u need bus service. Thanks.

DS had a lot of fun at the orientation camp and especially enjoyed the cheering sessions. He also got to know the classmates and the PSLs. He said the PSLs were a great help and always ready to offer help and advice. Kudos to the PSLs!
